Damaged Wall Cladding The Link62 Data Centre

The Challenge The Link62 Data Centre is a huge warehouse facility which will be used to store digital information. The property, which is approximately the size of 12 football pitches, and divided into a series of chambers, has been constructed by Laing O’Rourke on behalf of a multinational corporation. A large number of interlocking internal cladding panels with a highly reflective paint finish to the steel had become damaged during the build process and, as they could not be demounted individually, required to be repaired in-situ. The 2mm thick Eurobond had suffered chips, dents, scratches and even puncture holes, disfiguring mainly the lower areas to panels which were up to 12 metres tall. Such was the scale of the challenge that another repair company initially recruited to undertake the remedial work had been overwhelmed and unable to cope. The huge
