EXPERIENCE 4WALL DESIGN STUDIO May 2021- Aug. 2021 ACHITECTURAL DESIGNER ( JUNIOR) •Coordinated with supervisor in producing conceptual plans, site plans, floor plans, interior design plans, building façade, and interior/exterior construction details using auto CAD. •Recorded the existing site measurements, documented the existing site conditions through photographs, transformed hand-drawn floorplans from site visits into basic cad drawings for new projects. •Performed site visits at different stages of completion to ensure desired execution of the provided construction drawings. •Worked on projects varying in scale and type including residential/multi-family, hospitality, retail/restaurants, hotels and restaurants. •Developed designs using a variety of media and graphic techniques ( SketchUp, illustrator, Lumion and v-ray) in accordance with project specifications. 2

• Kuchipudi village was also known by other names like Kanchipuram or Kuchilapuri. Its ancient Sanskrit name kusilava-puram meaning the village of the kusilavas- a term used for traveling brads and dancers.

• Kuchipudi village represents the perfect depiction of the kuchipudi dance form and the astonishing range of culture and tradition that India bestows upon Itself. • The etymology of kuchipudi itself talks about the ancient dance tradition of the place.


DESIGN REQUIREMENTS: A dance institute with spaces like gurukul, galleries, courtyards supporting the activities In the area The teaching and learning spaces: These spaces are designed keeping in mind the contemporary as well as the traditional methods of practicing. For the contemporary ways, we have designed studios, workshops, and lecture halls to aware students about the history of kuchipudi. PROJECT DETAILS Our view of a village is a mix of reality and truth and people who share the basic conditions of the common life. The overall culture of the place and arts, help define and shape, identify perception and image within the village’s own terms. With the developing of the villages Into better environments, the need for a planned growth of the cultural and public spaces is required. Developing the village into urban sprawls yet keeping It close to its traditional roots and enhancing its cultural and heritage Is the main challenge.

Seating area in the canteen Kuchipudi is a small village that comes under the movva Mandal of Krishna district in the south Indian state Andhra Pradesh. The village lies quite close to the bay of Bengal and near the river Krishna.

CONCEPT

The concept is to deign a performing art university which attempts to narrate a story through its interiors.

Reconnecting the Indian classical design forms and adding a touch of contemporary style, the university attempts to stand out in contrast to the existing modern style pre-forming arts education style. The project seeks to tell a table of nav Ras, or nine emotions as elucidated In the Natya shastra, the foundation of all Indian classical performing artforms' forming a connection between the spaces and the art forms being exhibited, the center gives a feel of a performance taking place at every corner The Inspiration comes from the origins of performing art spaces that were in the form of amphitheater, In terms of space planning, materials and decor

The emotions, or rasas, are what give life different hues, shades and colors. Thus, it is not surprising that most performing art, which tries to present to the viewer a slice of human life focuses precisely on these rasas, or emotions in order to appeal to the audience. That rasas are the mainstay of performing art, or Natya, is a fact that has been well-recognized for centuries now. The Natyashastra is an ancient Indian text dated between 2nd century by and 2nd century ad which analyses aspects of performing art. It is often called the fifth Veda because of Its importance. In it one finds a thorough exposition on the rasas, or emotions that characterize life as well as art. The Natyashastra describes nine Rasas or navarasa that are the basis of all human emotion. Each is commented upon in detail. It is useful to keep In mind that a rasa encompasses not just the emotion, but also the various things that cause that emotion. These two things go hand In hand and are impossible to treat separately. This duality Is part of every Rasa to varying degrees


The site is a brown field project. The site is surrounded with few heritage buildings It is in the center of Hyderabad Site falls on a crucial spine of joining two main roads- lakdikapol main road and nampally main road. This area Is zoned for commercial, office and biofunctions The development on the land on the other side Is residential. • • •

Natya-mandapa

The theory of rasas still forms the aesthetic underpinning of all Indian classical dance and theatre, such as Bharatanatyam, kuchipudi, Odissi, Manipuri, Koodiyattam, kathakali and others. The expressions used in Koodiyattam or kathakali are extremely exaggerated theatrical expressions. The opposite of this Interpretation is Balasaraswathi's school of subtle and understated abhinaya of the devadasis. There were serious public debates when Balasaraswathi's condemned Rukmini Devi's puritanistic Interpretations and applications of Shringara rasa.

In the Hindu temple, the mandapa is a porch-like structure through the (gopuram). It is used for traditional dance and music and is part of the basic temple compound. Natyamandapa is a place where artist perform. It gives a traditional essence to the site. This Is also one attraction place which leads to the water body in the site. The water and Natyamandapa depict my concept navarasa through color and emotion, adbhuta( wonder) and Shringara ( love).

Academic building is one of the main segments in the site. It has characteristics which represent “navarasa” through emotion and colour. Dance and music require emotion and it plays a vital role in “navarasa” and colours helps in expressing the main intension behind d the expression which Is most important I theatre makes the magic happen. This block indicates “Veera”, “Hasya” and “Raudra” either by colours or by emotions. The 3 different blocks has Its own performing arts. Block 1- dance Block 2- theatre Block 3- music and literature. So that each art form has its own place and required elements. The aesthetical part of the whole building is “mudras” “Instruments” and “colours” required for the theatre are carved on the walls of the respective buildings.


MUSIC AND DANCE BLOCK

Oat has a stepped seating with red clinker stone which represents “Raudra” through colour. This is in the centre of the 3 blocks where students can sit and have healthy conversations. This represents Shringara rasa as an emotion


MAIN AUDITORIUM The auditorium is a place where there is a conversation between viewers and performers. Choosing the emotion or colour which satisfies my concept was about difficult. So, I had to solve the building taking mu concept into consideration. This place shares so many emotions so, I want to represent Bhayankara . As it is orange in colour and can indicate that emotion with wooden logs which will also help is acoustic treatment for the auditorium. Barrier free treatment. It is very essential to Include barrier free architecture in public buildings so that there will an opportunity for all the users to visit. Features In auditorium 1. Ramps near entry and exit and also near washrooms 2. “0” level seating

Tthough there are libraries in the academic block, this library is majorly for the outsiders. As “Potti Sriramulu university” has a huge library and a well knows museum, I have given one full building for museum and library. According to the concept the site is divided into 3 parts The library and museum is situated in the public zone so there will be a free movement of people. As the monuments or the books are pretty old, I wanted to show adbhuta rasa through emotion.

STUDIO This is studio with is placed in the semipublic sector of the site. This is the place where students gather and learn different types of arts other then the art forms thought in the university. This building Is right next to the student housing, so it won't be difficult for the students to trave for a longer period. Separate parking for this block so that outsiders can learn

FONCE CHOCOLATIER FONCE CHOCOLATIER ( IN USE) – CONSTRUCTED IN 2020 Even the decor of Foncé Chocolatier reflects their affinity for cocoa. the outdoor seating displays a 40 feet X 20 height wall art depicting the ancient Mayan cultural history of cocoa, The artwork depicts Maize God, who has taken on the form of a cacao tree. There are fascinating plant varieties such as Bird of Paradise, Spider Lily, Yellow Lollipops, Emerald Philodendron, Syngonium, Ficus Pumila, Giant Alocasia, Lipstick Palm, creating a fascinating tropical feel. A linear entrance pathway and larger volumetric open space at the backyard are made using locally available black limestone (Kadapa stone) as paving with highlights of fan pattern. The interiors are a fusion of Moroccan-inspired vibrant colors and modern materials. The richness of the cocoa is well depicted with the patina finish on the flooring, and hints of gold and soft velvet touch on the walls. As soon as one enters, there is five feet ‘Foncé circle’, which Is kinetic and can rotate at its axis. There is also a viewing gallery offering the customers an opportunity to look at the process of chocolate creation In a live kitchen The idea is to create interiors that symbolize the various chocolate layers. The richness of the chocolate is depicted with Patina finish on the flooring, slight hues of gold and soft velvet touches on the walls,”

This is the project I did when I was working in a well-known architectural firm. I took the responsibility of designing the whole building with the help of my boss. The main difficulty was to solve the elevation of the building as this particular floor Is a part of an apartment converted into a duplex house.
