Sinfonia Cymru & Laura Van der Heijden In this unmissable concert seventeen-year-old cellist Laura van der Heijden will join forces with Sinfonia Cymru to bring the searing drama of Shostakovich’s first cello concerto to life in a programme that also features Beethoven’s exuberant eighth symphony and two evocative works originally composed for the theatre stage: Sibelius’s magical suite from Pelléas et Mélisande, and the atmospheric Quiet City by Aaron Copland.
