Here are some of our athletes and their best climbs during 2021. Also other our athletes as Koen Baekelandt, Daria Brylova, Adam Karpierz, Lucie Hrozová and others climbed as much as they could and climbed nice projects.
KLEMEN BEČAN New climbing crag in Hvar, Croatia Klemen Bečan about the route from the cover photo: „Who is the best climber in the world? It would be impossible to say for sure. We believe it’s the one who has the most fun. The Megakante sector is all about the exceptional experience; the place, the line, the unique moves, seeing off the last light of the day. For me, climbing is all about reaching the absolute limit, which I do by climbing as much as possible. I am consistently raising the bar with a never give up, try and try again attitude that has taken him to the top “. Klemen Bečan, climbing coach and professional climber, has been active the whole year with climbing, coaching, route setting and living with his wife and son in their van. Klemen managed to climb super cool projects in Greece and Croatia. He onsighted one his 8b+ project in Balbala, Greece and managed to climb Nid de fadas 9a in Nifada sector. Not sure if it was first ascent or not. Despite his projects, coaching and climbing Klemen was also active with developing new crag in Hvar, Croatia.

FELIPE CAMARGO Felipe is back in climbing! One year ago, Felipe had an injury when he was wakeboarding on his rest day, just a weekend before his 2 months’ boulder tip to Switzerland. Felipe hat the water with his left arm opened and ruptured the Pectoralis major tendon. “It sucks, I’ve been training a lot, I was feeling super strong and trying to be outside doing other sports, keeping the body in movement even on my climbing rest days...but it is what it is...everything happens for a reason and I´m sure there is a lot I need to learn in the process. After my surgery I´m ready to start the long road to recovery with a smile in my face and the same focus I had training”. Felipe´s recovery was long and hard physically and mentally. But at the end of his recovery journey he is back in climbing. Felipe went to Chile for his bouldering trip and sent Inferno V14 in Silla Del Diablo. “This boulder is the reason I came to Chile and it feels so damn good to get it done!! After over 2 years without traveling out of Brazil and the hell of a year I had last year with my injury and everything...this one felt good!! Feels like the “inferno” is finally behind me!”

MARTIN STRÁNÍK Two 8C and 2 bronze medals in World Cup. Martin Stráník had a successful year full of great performance. In a winter time, when most of the climbers head south and climb in Spain or Greece, Martin due to Covid situation spent a lot of time at the bouldering crags in Czechia and managed to send FA Warrior 8C and Black Panter 8C. Both in winter conditions. Before sending Warrior 8C Martin said „I feel all drained and I doubt that I can finish today, but it feels a bit warmer and I reach the final section for the fourth time, so suddenly I hold the one-finger hole and make sure to finish and get to the top. Yes! Warrior 8C “. After bouldering season Martin focused on the competitions and as a boulder specialist he made 2 times bronze medals in lead World Cup! Martin said: „Wow, what a week this was! I’m still processing it and trying to sort out my thoughts a bit. I feel motivated and happy and I’m in a great shape. I scored two medals - unbelievable! I need to remain modest, though, as the three cool Olympic guys (Adam Ondra, Alex Megos and Jakob Schubert) were missing in the competitions, and I think they would have a lot to say about who should stand on a podium. “ Let´s hope that this season will be also full of Martin´s great achievements. MARKÉTA JANOŠOVÁ European Youth Champion Markéta is young Czech talented climber who is in love with climbing. Markéta had very successful but also difficult year full of climbing. Marketa won her category A at the lead European Youth Championship in Perm in Russia. As Markéta said: „This year was full of ups and downs 1st half was awesome, 2nd part I don’t think so. I know the fastest way is not straight, it is curved. I hope it’s the truth because dreams are going to be closer and I’ll catch them “. And what are her plans for this year? „For the year 2022, I’ll try to enjoy the life to the fullest. I’ll build a better healthy habits, try to reorganize my time better and make some time for my friends too. I’ll train harder, hopefully smarter too and become a better climbers and a person as well. I would love to climb outside boulders and some hard lead routes, because I haven’t done a really hard project already for 2 years “. We wish Markéta good luck and a lot of power for her climbing.
