Dog House

Dog House - Orthographic Projections

Reflections Strengths: I of

Weaknesses:

Discoveries:

Being able to visualize what a dog house looks like. can learn easily but of course it will take me a lot time to master them. Practicing helps.

It was my first time using sketch up. So I had a little struggle on what to do at first. But it was pretty neat to be able to do all these for the first time although I had to do trial and error. I’m not that good with computer works.

Sketchup is fun to use in creating models for the first time. This activity is not that easy at first but once I go the hang on it, it was easy. I first learned the basics and then be able to put materials on the dog house. There are a lot of techniques on how to do the roofs, it depends on the person’s strategies.

Array Exercises

Array Exercises - Orthographic Projections

Reflections Strengths: Weaknesses:

Discoveries:

I already know the basics of making model cubes and duplicating them to create this kind of corridor.

It is pretty challenging in “kissing two identical faces and making sure its aligned well. Making the dome took me a while to do, luckily helped came in from my classmate.

Duplicating and connecting faces maybe difficult especially with slow computers. I like this activity. I discovered on how to use components and not to do it again from scratch if there is something else that needs to be done.

Circular Stairs

Circular Stairs - Orthographic Projections

Reflections Strengths: height efficiently.

Weaknesses:

Discoveries:

Visualizing the level of a building and seeing the clearance for people to come in easily and

Being able levitate the tread of stair is challenging. Dimension wise, I’m new on using a different kind of measuring system.

Spiral Stairs are fun to do because of the group and component aspect hat is used to do it easier.

Malevich Inspiration

Malevich Inspiration - Orthographic Projections

Reflections Strengths: Weaknesses: Discoveries:

Creating different levels of buildings. It is a fun activity because it defines our interpretation of Russian concept in design. I got to lay with tools for me to display my approach.

Using the accurate color and materials for it to be visually appealing.

Exporting a picture and make it as a design concept and being able to draw irregular figures and come up with a good design. Using the camera to see the different views is key to doo this activity to accurately visualize the levels.

Paper Airplane Flotilla

Paper Airplane Flotilla - Orthographic Projections

Reflections Strengths: Weaknesses:

Discoveries:

Duplicating the first face of a figure.

Rotate key may be difficult to master, but once I had the hang on it on where to rightly position it for it to rotate to the wanted angle.

Using the rotate tool make figures look more appealing. First time to use the style key to make the whole project visually different and make it different in color. Sandbox is also introduced, once you know how to duplicate, scale and connect faces well, it will be easy to make an accurate terrain to make a project belivable.

Interior Study

Rear Left Top Right Front

Interior Study - Orthographic Projections

Reflections Strengths: fun to fin the

Weaknesses:

Discoveries:

Visualizing interior walls. The windows were very create, we had a chance to scale and rotate it to walls.

This was a quite challenging activity because we need to be able to create a gothic like ceiling. And make the interior part well.

Mixing the material used in houses is fun. from 3d warehouse.

And exporting

Rin’s Gallery (Photomatch)

Rear Left Top Right Front

Rin’s Gallery (Photomatch)- Orthographic Projections

Reflections Strengths: challenges me accurately building with

Weaknesses:

Discoveries:

Visualizing what should be and not should be in a building for me is my strength for it also to how to see through a structure more and like solving the missing pieces to create a photomatch.

Making sure that the angles are always on the red and green axis to show the same perspective that is with the picture. Making the stairs too is hard but I managed too do it.

Being able to visualize the correct or suitable wall connections from the picture is both fun and hard. Good thing Jerry (Instructor) showed us a lot of different views and perspective of the whole gallery.

Cabin (Final Project)

Rear Left Top Right Front

Cabin (Final Project) - Orthographic Projections

Reflections Strength:

Weaknesses:

Discoveries:

I’ve learned a lot of techniques now to make the cabin possible. I know how to read floor plans well and I think I can come up with a good design idea inspired by this cabin.

I forgot to use the layer tool for me to easily draw out the walls and hide it. Figuring the right dimension is hard for me and to be able to make the windows, cabinet and stamp it on the terrain cost me a lot of time to finish. Sketchup is a fun and efficient tool to use in design. I’m looking forward on how I can improve with this tool and learn more from others as well.

Overall Architectural Graphics Course (Digital) : SLO Progress Report SLO 1: Create accurate drawings that communicate simple architectural design intentions.

7

Apply graphic conventions and standards appropriately

8

Relate each drawing within a set to each other to fully describe significant aspects of a design from the general to the specific

7

Demonstrate a correspondence between the design intentions to be communicated and the graphic representations produced to communicate them

8

Produce drawing that are readable and meaningful to others

8

SLO 2: Analyze the specific intentions communicated by analog and digital modes of graphic communication.

7

Identify the intended message(s) behind the graphic communication, whether produced by analog or digital means

8

Assess the integrity of the message(s) – identify the strengths and weaknesses of the represented intentions

8

Assess the efficacy of the related graphic representa-tion(s)

8

Propose enhancements to what is being graphically communicated

SLO Progress Report – continued SLO 3: Apply use of scales, line quality, graphic conventions, and drawing systems and techniques.

8

Create clear and appropriately ordered hierarchies of visual information

8

Compose elements of a drawing in a clear organized manner that relates visual information on each drawing and between sets of related drawings

7

SLO 4: Demonstrate an understanding of the purposes of various architectural graphic techniques.

8

Identify the similarities and differences between:

Orthographic projections: plan, section, elevations, and details

Paraline drawing: isometric and oblique Perspective drawing: 1-, 2- and 3-point

9 9 9

Compare and contrast the graphic systems describe directly above

8

Demonstrate an integrated use of analog and digital tools in the process of developing a set of design intentions
