CHARATTE WEEK ARCHITECTURAL CREATIVITY
Charatte week is the first week of every year, that gathers all the architecture students together. mixing students of different stages and putting them into groups, We get to know students from different stages and learn from each other. each group collaborate and work on different projects to achieve targets that goes beyond architecture and art.
5
CHARATTE ARCHITECTURAL CREATIVITY our group is making an artist machine, by building a wooden frame that complys chian reaction installations, it will create a splash painting.a ball roll from the ramp and knocked down cups of paints that splash in an angle to create the painting at the centre, that will be pulled up by the weight of the ball at last.

+LIVING ROOM +BIKE STORAGE
This project aims to design a housing on Waldo Street in North Sheild. It is a 3 storey house and the area is strictly limited while there are serveral requirements from the target client: a couple and their children. The challendge is to fit everything into the constrained volume while achieving the complex residential scheme with strong social agenda.

PLACED,DISPLACED SECTION DRAWING There are windows in every space to make sure every corner of the house have sufficient sunlight, providing views and ensure ventilation.Windows are larger on the upper floors to provide privacy in this residential area. There is a skylight on the top floor between the two rooms in the corridor which creates a beautiful lighting effect.

LIVING ON THE EDGE ARC 2001-PROJECT 2.3
In this project we design a foyer that provide training and support for yound people at the edge of Newcastle. It complys a large glass blowing workshop, along with the accomodations for students and tuotrs. There is also a space to exhibit their work. The challendge is to design a building that fits into the industrial environment while fitting all the facilities into the area.
Developmental models along the process of designing, from 1:100 to 1:50.

PROSPECT & REFUGE ARC 2001-PROJECT 2.4
The building, located in the harbour town of Amble, is situated in the Northumberland Coast. By the use of structural grids and the mass-construction technique,it complys a cube shape building on the plinth that provides a small teaching and learning provision. The aim of the design is to attract tourists and visitors, to show them the learning achievements of the students in Newcastle University. It offers a space to think, in this site with great view of the sea and the challendge is to take advantage of this unique site.

CROSSOVER
ARC 2001-PROJECT 2.5
The Crossover project aims to design a busking music festival in a chare(alley) near the quay side of Newcastle. This is a group project which involves eight architecture and two enginnering students, to ensure the feasibility of the structure. The structure should be temporary and demountable, while providing shelter for the music performers and an experiencial journey for visitors.
25
CROSSOVER PHOTO MONTAGE OF THE MUSIC FESTIVAL There would be a raised floor, where the legs of the chairs could be fixed onto. The chairs are bolted to the diagonal pole to support the extended shelter. The organic lines and curving of the chair to provide comfortable seating arrangements for people.

CROSSOVER PHOTO MONTAGE-BUSKING MUSIC FESTIVAL AT THE NIGHT The narrowness, texture, light and darkness are few features that marks the uniqueness of the chare. We decided to focus on these characteristics and emphasize the light and contrast inside the chare.

The entrance of the chare is at the quayside, attracting pedestrains with the oraganic shelter. There are few skylight tunnels to concentrate the sunlight in a several spots in the experiencial journey, and the performance will be in the carpark next to the middle part of the chare.

ARC 2009
CONSTRUCTIONAL STUDY
The primary structure outlined the shape of the foyer, with the thickest steel beams that support the main structure and the lifts. Consist of columns and beams, it display the load bearing capabilities of the framework.
ARC2009
CONSTRUCTIONAL STUDY
The secondary structure shows the sub beams that span across each floor. Spanning in cross direction, each steel beams are spanning maximum of 4.5 meters in order to hold sufficient weight. It connects the primary structure to increase the overall strength of the construction and minimize the twisting that occurs.
35
This diagram shows the tertiary structure, with the 400mm external wall made of dense concrete. The choice of using concretes allow the application of different shapes of glass panels, and also strong enough to act as retaining wall to resist the pressure of soil at the back of the structure under lime street. ď€ ď€
