Dear Wyverns,
The 2021-22 school year marks the final year of the St. Francis School name, ushering in an exciting new era of clarity and opportunity under the new Francis Parker School of Louisville name and brand. Arriving at the decision to take this bold step forward came after a yearlong process involving a great deal of research, data collection, conversation, and soul searching. While a few tears of nostalgia were shed along the way because saying goodbye is hard, we are confident that this new name is the right choice for the School. Francis Parker, known as the founder of Progressive education, believed that the standard “one size fits all” approach to education did not serve all children well, and that learning should be active, engaged, and tailored to students. Additionally, he believed that education should prepare students to become responsible, engaged members of a democracy. These principles have always been inherent to the Mission of our School since its founding in 1965. Therefore, in choosing this name, we seek not to honor the man or any particular individual, but to strengthen and clarify our identity as a School rooted in the Progressive tradition of education.
We want to thank each and every individual in the Wyvern community for taking this journey with us and sharing in the ups and downs of the process along the way. Our work together has yielded a monumental outcome for the School. Every step of the way, your thoughts, feelings, and insights influenced and shaped our process and our decisions to ensure that we made the right choice in the right way. Even when we may not have agreed, there was healthy debate and discussion — all voices were heard. As a result, we have confidently moved forward with great enthusiasm and the confidence of knowing we have a name and brand that clearly proclaims our Mission, Core Values, and philosophy.
While our name has changed, the spirit and culture of our community remain the same. In fact, we are stronger than ever as the generosity of individuals listed in these pages demonstrates. Year after year, no matter what triumphs we have celebrated or obstacles we have overcome, our remarkable community of donors and friends has encouraged our success and made it possible to weather any challenges we have faced.
Thanks to our strong and united Wyvern community, we are able to take this bold step forward as Francis Parker School of Louisville. This report recognizes and celebrates the generosity and loyalty of the individuals who make everything we do possible. Every contribution – large and small – provides vital resources that enrich the lives of our students and advance the Mission of our School. The “Creating An Abundant Future” Campaign has been the most successful campaign in the School’s history, and at the end of the 2021-22 fiscal year, we have raised more than $22 million. This includes over $7 million in gifts and pledges for the School's endowment, which provides a permanent source of revenue for scholarships, professional development, and other operating expenses. Additionally, over $15 million towards capital projects has been raised in order to complete the following projects: 1) a new gym on the Goshen Campus; 2) a new entrance and expansion of the High School’s student gathering spaces and a new MakerSpace; 3) and the Goshen Main Amp, Lobby, and Theater. In addition, we completed Phase 1A, the Wyvern Indoor Turf and Training Center, of the final project, which is the High School Athletic and Wellness Center. With these projects completed, we now turn our focus to The Downtown Athletic and Wellness Center, which will include regulation basketball and volleyball courts, locker rooms, concessions, and more. The goal for this project is $10 million, and thus far, $1.5 million has been raised. As we continue Campaign fundraising efforts, we look forward to sharing our continued progress toward delivering this critical space that our Downtown Campus and its students truly need and deserve.

HENRION PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT GRANT
The Henrion Grant funds an international trip for a faculty or staff member each year. Faculty and staff members are invited to submit proposals for travel plans that include a research or project component, and recipients are chosen by a selection committee. This year’s winner, Angela Ponzio, took a pilgrimage of Medieval origin to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, in the North West of Spain where she walked 140 miles in eight days on the El Camino de Santiago. Along her journey she visited historic sites and experienced the beauty of breathtaking landscapes.

Over the course of four years, each class at the High School raises money to fund their Prom and class gift and each year the 8th grade class raises money for their class gift.
For the 2021-22 school year, the Senior Class made a gift to create a “green” wall in the High School Courtyard and a gift to support scholarships for SFS students. The 8th Grade Class made a gift to support the 8th Grade Lounge and purchase trees for the Goshen Campus.
Each year Wyvern Equity Fund (WEF) supports our students who live at or below the poverty level with critical essentials such as TARC bus passes, school meals, books for our high school students, athletic wear, camp fees, retreat fees, and more.

OUR GOOD EARTH
On Saturday, March 19, we gathered on the fields of the Goshen Campus to support the Scholarship Fund at St. Francis School. Event Chairs Lee Middendorf, Stacy Plotts, and Gerri Willis worked with the committee to create an unforgettable Our Good Earth that honored the down-to-earth yet elegant vibe that patrons have come to love, and also made the evening full of twists and surprises! Guests enjoyed a wide selection of farmto-table food stations centered around a theme of the four seasons, as well as being entertained by live music and games. The evening culminated with a surprise vocal duet by Kennedy Julian G'22 and High School Counselor Dr. TuNice Cole, followed by a live auction, and Stand for a Student, the opportunity that allows all guests to support the scholarship fund at their chosen level. Through the tremendous support of our community,Our Good Earth raised $163,642 for the Scholarship Fund and the students of St. Francis School, making it a true celebration of joy!

Stock is one of the best assets to use when making a charitable contribution. In most cases, an outright gift of appreciated securities entitles the donor to an income tax deduction equal to the fair market value of the securities.

It may be possible to double your donation, doubling the impact of your gift to the School. Many companies match employee donations, dollar for dollar, to nonprofit organizations like ours. Please consider checking with your company to see if it offers a matching gift program.
GIFTS IN KIND
If a donor gives a tangible asset that can be used by the School in its educational programs, the donor receives a charitable deduction equal to the asset’s fair market value.
FOUNDERS SOCIETY FOR PLANNED GIVING
The Founders Society for Planned Giving honors donors who support the School through a planned gift in their estate. A bequest or planned giving is a wonderful way to remember the School in your estate plans. A bequest may be for a specific amount, a percentage of the donor’s estate, or a residual portion.
