World Environment Day Celebration

June 5 is World Environment Day! Spend part of your day learning how to protect the environment. Our Sioux Falls Outdoor Recreation Specialist will led you on a tree identification walk. You will also have the opportunity to observe and identify local birds, test your skills in a recycle bottle toss and create an upcycled bug hotel or bird house to take home! Registration required.

Recreation Trail Races

SPENCER PARK

AGES : 6+

Join the fun and competition of Monday night trail races for all ages. Race against a friend or against the clock in a 3K or 5K marked run. Stick around after your scenic run for the drawing of a one-of-a-kind Recreation Trail Races T-shirt! Must be present to win! No registration required.

Summer Developmental Track Meets

Co-sponsored by First PREMIER Bank and PREMIER Bankcard. Children of all ages can participate in numerous track and field events. It’s a fun way to test your track skills. Field events begin at 5:45 p.m. and running events begin at 6 p.m. Register on site beginning at 5 p.m.

Spending quality time with nature can reduce stress and enhance quality of life! Fishing lets you connect with nature and simply relax. Join us Saturdays in June and July to spend your morning fishing at Family Park. Fishing poles and bait will be available on a first-come, firstserved basis. No registration required. A joint project of SD Game Fish & Parks, The Outdoor Campus, and SFPR.

Paddling Fair

Paddling improves cardiovascular fitness while letting you enjoy the beauty of the outdoors. Kayaks will be available on a first-come, first-served basis to those interested in trying the sport of paddling. Boats, paddles, lifejackets, and on-water guidance provided by SD Canoe & Kayak Association, Nyberg’s ACE, and Sioux Empire Paddlers. No registration required.

Experience the beauty of McKennan Park while your kids explore a park full of old-time carnival games, inflatables, food vendors, and summer fun. Bring your kids or “kid-like spirit.” No registration required.

Dash For Donuts Morningside

PARK ALL AGES

A fun run with all your favorite things: family, running, and donuts! Take one lap around Morningside Park with your family for a half mile, or two laps around for a full mile. At each corner of the park, there will be a challenge to take with your family before moving on to the next corner. After passing the finish line, enjoy a donut while playing yard games and meeting new people. What a great way to kick off your Saturday with this all ages event. Registration required.

Check out the new and improved Hayward Park! Bring your dog for a fun craft in the dog park. Grab a container of bubbles and get wet and wacky in the new spray park. Enjoy racing your neighbors in potato sacks, challenging your family to a round of minigolf, and many more options. Paint a ceramic craft to take home that evening or bounce on the inflatables. At sunset, the movie Luca, will start at approximately 9 p.m. Pack a picnic, peanuts and popcorn for an evening of fun. Registration required.

Parks and Recreation will bring the games, which will start at 7:30 p.m. Enjoy soccer and football themed challenges and games. The movie Kicking and Screaming will start at approximately 9 p.m. for all to enjoy. Pack the snacks and drinks and enjoy an evening in the park. No registration required.

Socialize with other dog lovers while the dogs play on a specially designed Yappy Hour agility course! A super fun way to appreciate your beloved pet in anticipation of National Dog-Day kicks off August 26. Create unique handmade dog toys each week for your furry friend (while supplies last). Free! TRAILGATING FESTIVAL

Join Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation for an evening of outdoor family fun! Enjoy yard games, bouncy obstacle courses, a self-guided photo scavenger hunt on the trails, and nature crafts! Curb your appetite with local food trucks and a campfire with s’mores while listening to live music. If you’re in the mood for a challenge, opt to compete in a bean bag tournament with some great prizes. Bean bag tournament registration starts at 5:30 P.M. with tournament starting at 6 P.M. sharp. Pre-registration recommended for the tournament!
