ABOVE THE MASK:

Dramatic Liner Beautiful

By Jessalyn Holsing Photos by Red Swordfish Studios

Wearing a mask when going out has been a large part of life lately and has taken quite the adjusting, but something that has perhaps been most interesting about it is the way we’ve had to adjust the use of facial expressions in order to communicate. There’s something incredibly mysterious and alluring about covering such a large portion of your face, but it also takes away a bit of recognition as well. However, as trends would have it, we’ve adjusted.

Eyes may be the most deeply expressive part of the face to begin with, and now that we must mainly communicate that way, why not amp it up a bit? Eyeliner as a form of flair for your best feature is the way to go as we continue to protect ourselves and others.

It’s simple, really, starting off with a light neutral color eyeshadow and black liner on the top lid—nothing too thick, and ending in a wing. The length of the wing is up to you, you can leave it as small or as extended as you like. (For our ladies with hooded eyelids, try the “bat wing” method, make your winged eyeliner as stand-out as the rest!) Next, you’re going to want to take out your white eyeliner and create an arch just above the crease. Not on it, because we want to see it loud and clear! Follow the shape of your ocular bone. Finally, to add some personal flair, choose two bright colors of eyeshadow: a lighter one and a darker one. We’re going to create a gradient by adding the lighter color on top of the inner three-quarters of the white liner, and the darker color on the outer half. This is important, because where the two colors meet you want to gently blend the dark on top of the light color to get a smooth gradient effect.

This look is perfect no matter where you’re going, because it’s simple and quick. Even your run to the grocery store can turn heads and garner a wave of attention and compliments! Let your beautiful eyes shine with this double-liner method, and keep the drama above the mask! n Professional Accounting Services You Can Trust
