Alessandro Kokocinski’s Poetic World of Dreams, Reflection and Imagination “Art is something that catches your eye, then your imagination and, if it is very good it will take you to another world.” - Rolf von Bueren Bangkok: 15 October, 2013 - The Theatre of Indulgence by Lotus Arts de Vivre is proud to present the works of Alessandro Kokocinski in collaboration with the Four Seasons VIP Essence Card. Commencing on 1 November, 2013, this second event of ‘Art in the Courtyard at Four Seasons Bangkok is a succession of Lotus Arts de Vivre curated exhibitions showcasing the works of leading artists from Asia and around the world. Kokocinski is an artist whose work is as fascinating and diverse as his own personal life experiences. Born in Italy, but of Russian and Polish descent, Kokocinski travelled extensively throughout South America, Asia and Central Europe. His distinctive works of oil paintings and sculptures embody provocative expressions of the spiritual tension and longings of the human soul. Masterfully rendered using medieval glazing techniques, his artworks are autobiographically inspired and often melancholic in nature. Kokocinksi was introduced to the von Bueren family by Dr. Gabriele Mengatti, a mutual friend and former ambassador of Italy. A close friend of the family, Kokocinski is described as a gentle hearted man who steers away from conventional social norms. His work is found in some of the most distinguished museums in the world including the Vatican Museums in Rome, the Jorge Luis Borges Foundation in Buenos Aires, the Gallery of Modern Art in Bologna, the Museum of Modern Art in Santiago de Chile and the Stadt Museum in Dresden. “I have always been a great admirer of Alessandro’s work. He has that unique ability to evoke a sense of mystery and intrigue with his work, creating art that speaks directly to your soul.” - Dr. Gabiele Mengatti Lotus Arts de Vivre commitment to selecting a diverse range of media and art forms that both challenge and inspire the viewer is a direct reflection of the Bangkok-based luxury design house own imaginative and unorthodox creations. Renowned for their quality craftsmanship that draws on ancient artisan traditions, the von Bueren’s artistic considerations often take precedence over profit resulting in rare and one of a kind art pieces. “All our designs begin as dreams that flow forth from a rich and free imagination of the spirit before the technical and practical implications are applied.” - Rolf von Bueren, Chairman LAdV
“Art has become increasingly commercial and its disproportionate pricing has made art only accessible to the very elite. My grandfather used to say that if you buy a painting and it doesn’t look back into the room, it is expensive wall paper. We believe that Art is just another facet of life and must have the innate ability to move you and it is this kind of experience that we wish to share through our Theatre of Indulgence Events”. - Nicklas von Bueren, CEO LAdV In addition to Kokocinski exhibition at the Four Seasons’ Parichart Courtyard, the artist has also been invited to showcase a separate collection at the Silapakorn University, the leading institution in the country for fine Arts and Archeology.
The great master artist, Alessandro Kokocinski, is personally exhibiting his arts works at Silpakorn university. With a long standing relationship with Rolf and Helen von Bueren for over 40 years, Mr Kokocinski is creating a special edition for Lotus Arts de Vivre with special prices as a special tribute to their friendship. These art works that will be displayed by Lotus are expected to be valued at 3 times the price in Europe
Alessandro Kokocinski is a powerful interpreter of the human soul, of its spiritual tensions and longings. His works exude pathos and drama: every feeling is allowed, except indifference. The Russian fantastic world, the Latin America passion and realism, the 17th century Italian chiaroscuro blend in his paintings and surface from his sculptures, creating a wave of energy that grabs the staring viewer without any warning. The complicated and troubled life of Alessandro Kokocinski across five continents definitely contributed to his art. Alessandro Kokocinski was born in Porto Recanati in 1948 from a Russian mother and a Polish father. His young hands took the excitement and the beauty of those places and experiences. In the early sixties, Kokocinski joined the circus in Buenos Aires, as an acrobat and travelled across Latin America. When he came back to Buenos Aires where he exhibited drawings exposing dirty politics, he was persecuted by the Argentinean military regime for his political views. He fled to Chile then to Italy where he was welco med in Rome by his fellow Italian artists such as Rafel Alberti, Alberto Moravia, and Carlo Levi, and eventually decided to settle down. His work, a distinctive mix of painting and sculpture, offered to the shocked European audience a clear cut report of the crimes of the military regime in Argentina and a merciless picture of South American society. In the eighties he travelled to Asia and to Central Europe, his solo exhibitions increasing his already established popularity.
