Process The design process is an important step that should take time to consider what the direction of the art will be.

Thinking about inspiration for creating art and how to manage the process

Ideation

I started thinking about the whole process from the beginning to the end. To this point, I suddenly came to think that ideas or imagination, including principles and reasoning. " Does process really have an end? " On this question, It leads to be concept of the moon phase. I would like to present the audience to follow in the loop process in poster looks.

Research I researched specifically about the transformation of the moon cycle, Including the direction of light , the moon texture and I also look at to "star charts" which represents to many experiences that people have while working in the process.

Resolution

Feedback received during in the classroom suggests that was using color tones can make the viewer focus on the wrong direction than the point that I really want to present. First, Greg recommended me that I should reverse the bright tone to be an outcome point for making people see the success way clearly Secondly, handwriting may not seem appropriate for the work, should be concerned about choosing fonts. Finally, Space is also important part for creating a good perspective. I should deverlop the space around the moon cycle to be wider or consider to change a format paper design.

Critical Reflection

The main purpose of this work is to recognize the process, people, also including me. From the beginning, I enjoyed with the research of the moon cycle which can be clearly and easily linked to the work process for communicating with the audience. To think more about are the surrounding elements that greatly affect the image of my work, such as the composition or colors in the work. I realized that the first impression was the most important thing that can make people interested in art work. I usually consider the overall of the work. However, I was focusing too much on one point and affected to the work to be unbalance. In class room, I received a feedback comments from teachers and friends which allowed me continue to develop my work to be better looks. I reminded to my work carefully, and realize that this project made me thought about process from the beginning, like an endless journey to find a better path and come back to thinking about the purpose of working to improve it. After that, I felt more relaxed and enjoyed this work. I'm glad that I didn't just do to finish, but also learning with that.

Target Audience “ Target audience is the group of people that prefers the type of artwork you create. You will find the people most likely to buy your paintings or drawings are the people who answer the questions above the same way you answer them. - Carrie Lewis

Before coming out as a work The important thing to be aware of is to do for whom or how this affects them. Getting to know the target group at the outset is a very useful step as it will be able to operate based on the target group's factors. I realize that the first order of finding a target audience to create my work is perhaps something that I'm particularly interested in to be able to find information more easily in addition to my previous knowledge and experience. I choose people who lives in accommodation that is in a confined space. And spend most of their time in his area But don't have time to go for a walk in the park or other green areas, so in my work Will present about increasing green space in their homes These are houseplants, which are various sizes and are useful for creating beautiful views. It also affects the better health both physically and psychologically.

Ideation In first time, I consulted with tutor about the concepts of houseplants, and received advice that I should do artwork for promoting about benefits of houseplants to people. So, the poster is the best choice for this project.

Research I researched many types of houseplants, including information for improving people's health by researching hospital articles or articles based on patient experiences that improved after deciding to accept houseplants in their own space.

Feedback

I have received many comments from my classmates, who have considered my work that this work is not yet a response to the benefits. I realized that I might have thought too much about the space in people's rooms, until the images appeared to look like a poster for selling a room rather than the Houseplants.

Development I returned to focus on my ideas from the beginning. Since I had originally thought that it should be a poster inviting people to buy houseplants as part of their home or area. Therefore, the poster should feels more fun and friendly to the audience.

From a friend's comments in classroom suggests that my original version looks like selling room furniture, makes me spark ideas about applications that customers can choose and arrange to move furniture in a 3D room. Still thinking about children's dress up games Which I used to play as a child. So, I developed these ideas until finally becoming a new version of the poster that has changed completely.

Critical Reflection For this project I learned to develop ideas together with research which greatly affected the design. I realized that doing something for the attention of someone must consist of things that make the audience believe that it is exactly what they want, while also impressing and enjoying the beautiful design. First, research is very important. Many informations are involved in supporting every design. For designers, having unilateral confidence without any guarantee that audiences will understand is a risk of confusion in the work. Sometimes, the audience may not understand the important points that the designer wants to present. I received those lessons from this work experience. Although in the first place it seems to lose some confidence. But I am grateful for every feedbacks which helped me spark new ideas to improve my work. The most important thing about this project is the promotion to make people pay more attention to the green space, even if it's just a small area. So, to confirm whether my work is really effective or not. I took the work for my friends and family to consider, and they honestly commented that they understood my concept even though I didn't explain anything. Those things gave me confidence back again. I can honestly say that I love this work .

Alter Ego

I started this project from thinking about my friend's cat story. Although I have never had a cat before, but because I got a lot of experiences from my friends who is troubled about her cats often run away from her house. That was really interesting. So, I started to think that I want to understand cat behavior. Designing a character is not easy. I was quite confused at first. However, I was advised by my classmates and tutor. Finally, I found that I wanted to create animation that looks like children game to explain the character and people can know what the character wants.

Ideation From the beginning, I was quite confused about choosing a character. I designed the three characters that look very different. Then, I decided to take it to ask my classmates to choose the most interesting character.

feedback I got a lot of feedback ideas. One of the suggestions is very interesting: bringing the two characters together. Then, it was the beginning that made me think about the ideas of my work being started.

Research I decided to create this work as a children illustration book. So, I went to the library to learn about the drawing style, including research children's books in online bookstores

The Misadventures of Frederick by EMMA CHICHESTER CLARK

Ketzel, the Cat Who Composed by LeslĂŠa Newman

The Most Magnificent Thing by Ashley Spires

Development In the character information section, I designed to include girl and cat in one body. Her name is "Charlotte". I really like this name so much, because its meaning is “a person who is free like a cat that can go anywhere as she wants.

Draft (Unused) Actually, I wanted to create storytelling in an illustration book style, but I stopped the work process only on the cover book. I realized for my work quality that was difficult to finish in 1 week. However, even if it was a shame that I did not use this artwork but I decided to stop this process and began to do other format.

Outcome In the beginning of the new work process, I consider using a format that can be done within 1 week due to the limited time. Therefore, I decided to use the method of storytelling through 2D animation which shows that the view of the Charlotte’s window has changed as well as her clothes have changed too. It seems like she can go anywhere as she wants and the audience can't guess the location until the window opens.

< WATCH ANIMATION "CHARLOTTE" HERE !

feedback Because this piece is an animation, my classmates suggest that some effects should be added to increase interesting feeling(when the window opens and the scene changes). The tutor suggests that I should push myself to a different style to challenge myself in next time.

Critical Reflection There are a lot of changes in this project. I realized that because of my ill-advised work, my process had to change all the time to cope problems. Not just the first week that I missed my opportunity to develop work which confused about my character, but still missed the second opportunity, which was a mistake from my thought that I might be able to do it in time, but there is a risk of not being able to finish in time. However, I though that was a good opportunity to challenge myself to do something different. if I succeed, that means I was able to handle the problems that occurred at that time. For creating characters as “Charlotte, she gave me a lot of experiences. Although some of the works that were designed will not be used, but researching while working is also very helpful. So, I can apply the knowledge that I studied to improve the character design development. I can't deny that I had fun creating her to be able to communicate what she wants to the audience in an animation style. Although I am not very good skilled in animation techniques, but I'm excited every time I did this work. I love Charlotte!

Observation This is a great opportunity for me to draw many things and places around me. Honestly, I don't have much time to sketch because I don't often carry my sketchbook when I go out. At first I decided to find a place to sit and sketch. Unfortunately, because the weather, which is often rainy and having the cold winds that annoy me so much, I decided to skate things around me in my dorm. Beginning with something simple, my daily meals, whether breakfast, lunch, and dinner, made me more happy than I thought. When the weather starts to warm. I got a chance to go out to touch the warm sunshine and wonderful perspective. Most of the pictures that I finish skating are, I look at the trees in the city that have changed beautifully and are memorable.

Collections I sketched foods in my dorm, The decision to draw foods is so wrong. Because I have to hurry up sketch before I completely eaten and no more food to draw.

Places & People

I am sure that I took too long time while I was sketching the landscape. Maybe because my personal habit that I don't want to miss out on drawing details. In some images, it took a maximum 1 hour.

Critical Reflection Obviously, I use digital drawing techniques more than hand-drawing. One of the reasons for choosing this technique is because I usually carry my tablet everywhere more than a sketchbook. Sometimes I don't want to miss a good opportunity by taking pictures and then drawing them later. I realized that if I can do anything at that time then I should do it immediately in my own skills. Using the best skilled technique makes drawing faster. However, even though I like digital painting, I sometimes choose hand-drawing to challenge my skills. I found that my unfamiliarity also gives me new experiences as well. I only use 3 colour pens to draw because I want to draw something that could different colour in real life such as a pink bread ...that is so lovely! Sometimes I realized that I should let my hands move without thinking too much. In my experience, I have a personal habit as I like to draw everything with too much details. Sometimes it looks too serious to say that it is a sketch. I think fun is an important point to be aware of rather than seriousness. After I had sketched these images, I'm so happy for this project.

Exhibition In this project, I worked in small interdisciplinary teams of four (determined by the tutors) We have a good opportunity to join London Gallery Tour on Friday 8 November. Everyone can experience learning from many artworks with various techniques. Investigate the above, discussion with group and make an illustrated presentation that we found.

Research I discussed with friends in the group about the different ways in which the exhibition was shown to the audience. Finally, we chose ' James Rosenquist: Visualising the Sixties at Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac ' as the main topic of analysis for presentation.

Word

Words are important for communicating in art works. In my experience, I always take value to typography so much because it can be visual language to the audience when they look at to artwork. In this project, I got the word “Positive that i would go to find the meaning in different ways and design how it will be to communicate the meaning clearly. I almost give up finding the best idea, but the simple things as a cup of tea in cold day that helped me to spark the positive thinking and I kept it to be my concept.

Ideation

I found that a cup of tea can communicate a lot of positive things to people clearly. It made me spark the aesthetic about a chamomile tea which have a flower shape like the sun, and also have positive meaning colour as yellow.

Brainstroming & Mood and Tone

Research I researched on the internet about image composition, and was inspired to create words by changing shape smoke.

'Coffee Smoke 1' a photograph by Alain De Maximy

'Kaiyo' Hand-painted Photography Background Board - Moody Blues

Draft

I design words "Positive" in a cup of tea form, including smoke from hot tea to communicate to be "P", and organized the line around cup as the sun light.

Development In class room, tutor suggest that I should develope to be tea advertisment poster, including tea leaf and tea drop to be font in the poster. My friends suggest that i would consider about techniques for painting a cup of tea in my artwork.

Outcome I received comments after completing the design of the posters from my classmates, which they clearly understood my concept. However, there are still some areas that need to be improved, such as adding a packaging for clarity as an advertising poster, the position of word can make confusing, including the background colour that should be darker to supports a cup of tea stand out more.

Critical Reflection From the beginning, I had a lot of fun getting start with designing. I know the meaning of the word "Positive" when I went out on a cold day, and a hot tea helps me feel better. That was nice experience! I realised that keeping the basic feeling can spark a great idea. In processing, I'm quite worried about communicating with poster looks. I designed my work with the audience's first feelings when they looked at the poster. I turned to research about the colour which can support the positive feeling. The most important thing for this project is the first impression that can remind people about “Positive. However, creating the mood board gave me an overview of the event, i would know what should be communicated to the audience to clearly understand the meaning. This is very useful during the work process. I spend the most time to design the composition of images. In order to describe each component that has a positive effect on the meaning of the term, research on advertising posters based on the tutor's instructions allowed me to design a poster in more clearly scope what it should be.

Starting Point

Starting to think of the identity that will convey myself is very challenging. I went back and considered the style of my work, until I discovered that I should design a book to present my personality.

Ideation

I designed 3 concepts for the cover book to convey my personality which presents what i'm interested I'm confused between the old magazine style and the old computer style. Therefore, I decided to combine these 2 concepts.

Old computer style

Old magazine style & Artist's desk style

Research I went online to research about Thai colour tone (Thai Tone) which will be the main colour for organizing my book layout. I would design my layout in colourful looks and choose main colour to support the topic, also look at layout references as the old magazine and old computer things

Thai Tone Color By Pairoj Pittayamatee

< main colour palette

Cosmopolitan Magazine, June 1955. Professorial Platform by Teal Triggs, 2009

Draft I mainly chose the old computer design style, because I intend to use this layout as a connection point for all content in my book. The inside of my book is designed as an old magazine that uses old computer windows as a frametext for explanations.

Development

In class room, my tutor suggests that the first impression looks too much graphic design, I could increase more illustration to present who i am. I realized that i will hole some place in the cover book for connecting to the second page which is full of illustration.

Critical Reflection This project is one of my favorite works. I have designed my style which includes presenting colors from Thai tones. Also making books in a style similar to old magazines. I love to think about how to use color tones in appropriate content. I believe that the book design style will help to promote the content of the book to be more interesting, just like what I learned about managing the space in the gallery. I got a comments on the overall look, maybe it looks like I'm a graphic designer rather than an illustrator. So, I developed a style to be an illustrator as well. In my opinion both are completely different in the art style. But have the similar things is organizing the color tone, using imagination in art design to support the content be more interesting. As the first impression is always important, but when people focus more inside artwork, it would be more understanding of the artist's identity from the designs that support each other I would say that if I have more time to develop my starting point, I will design in many styles that can show how i am. I believe that I have many ideas to describe myself in different perspectives, and actually depends on what I am interested in that time.
