BRISSAC - Inspired by the rich legacy of Velvets. During the formation of Kobe in 1976 the product group VELVET was the foundation of the initial assortment. Since then Kobe has proven to be a leading developer of technical and creative innovations in the world of velvets.
Velvet is an ostentatious fabric, known as one of the most luxurious fabrics and famed throughout the ages as a precious treasure for its sumptuous elegance. Through the pile construction velvet enriches interior design with a unique, striking reflection of color and light featuring extreme richness in colors. Velvets are, in every sense of words, sensual and tempting.
Velvet weaving has been documented as far back as 2000 BC in Egypt. The technique flourished in the ages there after and reached far and wide, the fabrics revered and sought after as a symbol of royalty and nobility.
The designs Riva and Casella in the Brissac collection are a homage to this legacy of velvet, taking its design inspiration from the French Napoleonic Empire style period. The color palette in this collection is also a reflection of the widely colors of the Empire period, ranging from ecru and beige to pastel tints and shades of gold and brown. In this period, a pure French style arose from a combination of different valuables and know how accumulated from Napoleon’s conquests and travels. Velvet weaving, which was already spread in Europe by this time, took an even more important dimension during this period in France.
The Brissac Printed Velvet Library contains silk look velvets printed with metallic powder print technique on plain base cloths Argento and Como. Besides the designs Riva and Casella the designs Byron, Dolgan and Columba are presented in the Brissac book.
