The Hamptons Brokerage Managers In the fourth quarter of 2017, the number of units sold in The Hamptons (East of the Shinnecock Canal) decreased 10% from the fourth quarter of 2016 according to data compiled in the Long Island Real Estate Report. For that same area, units sold fell to 349 units in the fourth quarter of 2017 from 388 units in the fourth quarter of 2016. Significant highlights included a 27% gain the total sales volume in Bridgehampton to $91 million sold from $71.8 million in the fourth quarter of 2016 as well as a 19% gain in East Hampton compared to the prior year. Despite the decrease in the total number of sales, the total sales volume remained equal compared to fourth quarter of 2016. The consistent volume year over year was due to the average sales price in the fourth quarter of 2017 increasing by 10%, while the median sale price also increased to $1.2 million, a 4% increase compared to the year prior.
