Artist Village
Project Type : Academic Thesis Project Project Team : Individual Year : 2018 Location : Andretta | Palampur | Himachal Pradesh
Abstract Andretta
artists’ village is one of the oldest artist communes of its kind. It was a meeting point of famous artists’, potters and actors of national importance. It used to be a platform of discourse and learning on art, drama and philosophy in a rural environment. The artists’ settlement became virtually defunct after Norah Richards death in 1971. Thus due to its rich cultural and natural attribute, effective road connectivity for tourists and visitors. Andretta showcases a great potential to vitalize its lost cultural heritage of again being an artists’ commune. The crux of the project here aims at ‘Development of Andretta atist’s village near Palampur in Himachal Pradesh, India’ with a focus on reviving its lost cultural attribute of being an artist settlement. The idea here aims at creating a global meeting platform for artists, art lovers from all the creative personas to interact ,learn and showacase their work to the outside world. This idea can be efficiently perceived via development of Andretta village with emphasis on social, economic and cultural growth, which furthur provides a progressive growth pattern to the village. Methodology............................................................... Study of the settlement - Study of related literature Overview of case examples - Comprehensive study of the village and local construction practices - Indentification of potential nodes for intervention - Preparation of guidelines for village development - Generating physical and spatial Programmatic requirements - Design Proposal.

Weekend Resort Nasik, Maharashtra, India Project Type : Professional Project Project Team : Design Workshop | Ar.Shabbir Unwala Year : 2017 Location : Khambala | Nasik | Maharashtra
About
Grape County - Weekend Resort Extension of eco resort set in 12874sft of land and next to protected forest and a lake. The project strictly follows architectural guidelines to protect the environment and conserve natural resources. The idea was to use diet architecture i.e building just what is needed and creating bare minimum foot print with dry construction (steel as a primary material) as architecture resides in the relationship between man and nature and it is responsive for both time and place. Massing was done based on site conditions and creating three major axis leading to different cottages and merging with the lake. The idea is to retain natural contours to avoid unnecessary cutting and trenching of the site. Each unit is designed such that it could be modular and thus prefabricated and assembled on the site which would be economical and ecologically helpful. Each unit is stacked and stands out to be different in its features but yet the same modules repeated. Thus different arrangements at the same floor plan leads to varying unit type.

Working Drawings Vadodara, Gujarat, India Project Type : Academic Porject Project Team : Individual Year : 2016 Location : Mandvi | Vadodara | Gujarat
Brief
Working Drawing Studio Bank with Manager Accomodation Aims at understanding of how project drawings practically function from passing level i.e. corporation drawings to technical drawings which follow a universal language to be referred during onsite construction. The idea here was to come up with a mixed use development project with actual site in inner city vadodara (mandvi) that justifies your project . My proposed project was Bank with Manager Accommodation and a rentable floor. Next step was to Progressively come up with a design that strictly follows VUDA (vadodara urban development authority) norms and regulations. First stage was to come up with corporation drawings and once they are passed you can move further to second stage of detailing i.e. generating working drawings of same.

Brief
Urban Design Studio Linking of Urban Magnets in a Religious Precinct (A Case Of Anandpur Sahib) The intervention in the city of Anandpur, aims to create lucid movement around the main gurudwara and adjacent buildings like Sarovar, museum, market, Virast-e-Khalsa and various other gurudwaras around. The idea is to invigorate the whole area and create a docile parking and market spaces as well as open spaces for festivals and events. The present scenario in the city of Anandpur, hinders the basic functioning and fluidity of spaces. The main area around Gurudwara Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib lacks proper connectivity to the surrounding elements such as sarovar, museum parking etc. and proper movement pattern. The open ground for festivals can be increased and used in a better manner, the market area is poorly managed and hinders the majestic view of Gurudwara Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib.
