self care 101 -8-
self care 101 why am i doing this? Because some of y’all so caught up in your exams y'all forget how to take care yourself >:( how do you feel?! I feel good! and if you don’t that’s okay :) everyone gets sad and stressed (esp during AP seasons!) however, taking care of yourself mentally and physically should be your most number one priority!
do something YOU enjoy ITS OKAY TO TAKE A BREAK! Doing something you like whether you’re hanging with your friends or binging a show till 3 i the morning, take a break and relax. Return with a clearer and brighter mind tee hee!
SLEEP! It sounds obvious, if you can’t remember the last time you had a full night's rest, then sleep. Getting a good sleep will do you good in the long run physically and mentally.
talk about your feelings stressed about a personal issue? Talk about it, don’t keep it to yourself. Tell a close friend you trust and don’t hold onto the negativity in your head :)

ribfest who? ribfest is an event where kiwins and key clubbers serve ribs to our sponsors for our clubs of the kiwanis branches.
what to do? - serve ribs + food to our local sponsors - prepare the event - prepare the food - clean up after the event
Ribfest was a great experience, I got the opportunity to help set up an event of a lifetime for each and every person that came. Things I did included preparing the tables and serving food with the community that led to a great time overall. When everyone finished early, we all got to hang out and play near the park next door. If I ever had the chance, I would volunteer for the event again, it’s something I really enjoyed and would love to be apart of again.

adopt a highway what do you do? - beautify the neighborhoods within the city (in this case hacienda heights) - collect cigarette butts for extra ka-ching for our club account
1,000 cigarettes
by: Juan Villa
The “adopt a highway” event was a great way to spend my Saturday morning. During the event, I bonded with friends AND helped save the environment, two things which mix surprisingly well. Me and my group managed to pick up 1,010 cigarette buds along the highway, which is a scary amount if you ask me. I think the best part of the event was that it didn’t necessarily feel like work. It felt like I was hanging out my friends and doing something good on the side. Adopt a highway was definitely one of the more memorable events I’ve done.

foam glow was dummy lit by: OMG foam glow was such an amazing event. We were suppose to help with water station, however, the event had too many volunteers. It was super super fun and I would definitely go again. The whole event was like huge party. They had a party before the race to hype up the runners and an after party to celebrate their amazing run. There was green and pink foam EVERYWHERE. Everyone got soaked. It was really fun and I would totally recommend more people going next time. I’m glad I went.

Key Club Banquet 2019 was a night to remember. It was my first of four in my key club journey and I encourage those who did not attend to do so in the future. It was a night full of laughter, heartfelt speeches, and immense amounts of photos capturing the friendships and memories I created this past year.
Why do we have banquets? Banquets are usually a way to honor the old board as well to install the new board (besides DCON). It is also a way that we have all our fellow seals come together and bond for our home club. Seal or not it is a way to have a little gathering within our community <333
-16-
Our president and whole officer board worked so hard in order to provide the members of our club an unforgettable experience and their efforts were displayed proudly. We were able to have food (tacos, beans & rice) as the main meal, along with drinks and desert. The interior of the setting of our banquet was amazing as well. Awards were given out and our advisor, along with Kiwanis representatives were present, making speeches. Our new officer board was also introduced, each with a thanks to the previous officer in their own position for the past term! Overall, it was an amazing experience and I would highly recommend attending this event in the future!
Who is the new board? In case you missed the last issue, (which was also the very first one >:(((() our officer board is tech editor: Catherine Nguyen; mrc: cindy fan; historians: jenibelle ho & krista huang; vp records: kasey vuong; vp comms: ryan ly & shishun guan; vp at large: hailey tran; president: susan duong.

experiences? Finish the Ride was a very relaxed event. Key clubbers were assigned to work the registration booth and sign the runners and cyclists in, and to also pass out a distribute shirts to them. Since it was very cold, and it was raining, the adults working the event was kind enough to provide all the volunteers with heat pads to keep us warm. Based from this experience I would definitely volunteer at this event again if I had a chance.

tech editors wanted! Contrary to popular belief, Tech Editors do not draw. It simply depends on what your creative output is! The Division Tech Editor has the responsibility of designing graphics for the Division when required. You also will be working with social media such as our: website, Instagram, and Facebook. You will be making such things as: advertisements, Facebook covers, overlays, icons, and even potentially merchandise. Any creative projects will be directed to you. You will be creating a Technologies Committee to assist you in handling your tasks such as: graphics, photography, and website maintenance.
