Gustation: The act or sensation of tasting. Sponsored by Kroger, one of the most largest supermarket chains in Unite State, this project engages in building new relationships between consumers, supermarket and the whole community. Located in Corryville, Cincinnati, this new Kroger is beneficial to the nearby residents of community and students from University of Cincinnati. Our idea of “Gustation Library” also starts from the concept of building new relationship; and we quote the mode of “library” to structure the links relations.

When we talk about “library, we are thinking about a space that collects numerous of books and information for people to read, borrow, and reference. The aim of library is to share a resource for public to learn, enjoy and experience. Similar to traditional library, sharing also is the core of Gustation Library. According to human behaviors, Gustation Library is divided into these four different areas: tasting, experience, recipes and memory area. Different sharing experiences will be involved in different areas. While enjoying different food, tastes, and flavors, patrons express their thoughts with others. This Gustation Library works as a third place for Kroger in Corryville area, which allows the third parts to contribute food materials. Food, snacks, beverages and alcohol will be provided.

This conceptual project is aimed to creating better future workplace by using the high technology. After positioning the problems in nowadays working environment, our students are allowed to apply their own picturing-future technologies to the design. In this project, a maker space is been asked to use as an example location. Pixel, is a system that allows users to change interior components of work place according to users’ needs by extending each pixel unit. By using this Pixel system, vacant area has been transfered into efficient and active space, which archive the requirement of future workplace.
32
