Arts stems from everywhere, so does architecture. Architecture does not exist in isolution. It is an interactive process between interior and exterior.

Drawing: Transition Piranesi’s Carceri and Architecture Museum This project is a research about translation and spatial relationship between site and architecture. Finally, we need to design a building to show and store a specific collection. My design is based on Piranesi’s Carceri drawing in which the circulation and space interest people for decades. It is famous for its embodiment of time and body in the 2D canvas which is like a transition from the static perspectival space to a dynamic fluent space. In the following, I will show how a drawing interpreted into architecture.
Collection
The architectural synthesis of foreground, middle ground, and distant view, together with all the subjective qualities of material and light, form the basis of complete perception. Steven Holl

Music: Silence/Notes Musicians’ Chamber
This project ask us to design a building with accommodation for a quartet of musicians, and a public performance space. In the incubator stage, we are asked to develop three prototypes: design framework; spatial study; construction methodology. The prototypes should be translated from a specific kind of music. I choose impressionism music for the inspiration. Then the prototypes are applied on the suburban garden site in Edinburgh. The characteristics of the site is benefit to my concept.
Concept Ambiguity, Undirectional, Hazy Music is the silence between the notes. Music is a free art gushing forth — an open-air art, boundless as the elements, the wind, the sky, the sea.

Material In the analysis of polycarbonate, I find it interesting to use in a sectional way. So I try to stack the sectional polycarbonates as facade. This facade shows the fuzzy view of outside/inside. Like music, sound and silence shows alternatively.

A memory of Swimming pool
The building is civic center consist of library, admin office and Council chamber. The site is a memory to the local peoples. I hope to keep the experience of roaming in the pool in this design so that the residents can find intimacy in it. The other main concept in the design is to gather people together to build a sense of community in the architecture.
