TV personality LaLa Anthony has a makeup line called Motives for LaLa, which highlights colors and products for African American and Latina women. Anthony noticed a lack of prominent products from beauty lines in the market.
Celeb
“Having my name on a cosmetics line has always been a dream, one I’m excited to share,” Anthony said. “Every girl always tries to find that perfect color or shade that suits their personality, and now she can do it easily and affordably.” The line includes lipsticks, lip shines, eye shadows, blushes, and shimmers with olor combinations and exclusive names like Celeb, La Reina, Flirt, and Sunset Blvd. It is a perfect blend of runway and everyday style!

Summertime Skincare Secret: SPF 15
Health
Summer is here and it’s time to make sure you take care of your skin during these hot months coming up. Your skin is typically oilier in the summer and Dr. Susan Taylor, MD, creator of Rx for Brown Skin, says that using sunscreen with SPF can keep your skin safe. “SPF means sun protection factor and the number associated with (the SPF) indicates how long you can stay in the sun without burning,” Dr. Taylor says. “So if you wear an SPF 15 sunscreen, you can stay in the sun 15 times longer without burning as compared to when you do not wear sunscreen.” Dr. Taylor is in the process of developing an acne line which will be out soon! Here are some do’s and don’ts of summer skincare:
SPF= Sun Protection Factor
• DO: Select a cleanser for oily skin • DON’T: Over wash your skin
Tip: Wash your face no more than twice a day
• DO: Use a moisturizer only if your skin is dry • DON’T: Rub or scrub your face when you wash it Tip: If your skin is not dry, do not use a moisturizer
• DO: Apply sunscreen everyday and reapply if you are outside more than 2 hours • DON’T: Use harsh products like rubbing alcohol to remove the excess oil Tip: Use products with Cetaphil (for normal to oily skin) or a cleanser that contains the ingredient Salicylic Acid (which will reduce oil)
Extra Tips
Dr. Taylor suggests some products from her Rx for Brown Skin line for keeping your skin smooth during the summer:
Rx for Brown Skin Age Block SPF 15 Dr. Taylor says: It’s formulated so that it’s non-greasy and disappears into the skin without leaving a white residue on the skin Rx for Brown Skin Cleanser Dr. Taylor says: cleanses the facial skin without leaving the skin dry

Amandla Stenberg Shines as Rue in ‘Hunger Games’ When “The Hunger Games” came out in theaters, it was easy to determine that it was going to be a BLOCKBUSTER. Based on the popular book, the story of Katniss and the other tribute having to fight to the death would be a good one. The surprise of the movie was the breakout performance of Amandla Stenberg. She took over the screen as the shy Rue, who forms a bond with Katniss while Katniss while in the Hunger Games field. Her role was significant, as Rue was one of Katniss’ only allies during the games. We first saw Stenberg as the younger Cataleya in “Colubiana” and she is definitely one to watch from now on.

Diggy Simmons Has Arrived The son of hip-hop legend Rev Run releases his debut album, Unexpected Arrival 17-year-old Diggy Simmons is known for being a cute kid on his father’s show, “Run’s House”, but now he is making a name for himself as a hip-hop artist with his first album, Unexpected Arrival. The name of the album describes it perfectly; no one expected Simmons to “arrive” on the hiphop scene and he plans to stay. He wants to show that he’s more than the son of a hip-hop legend and that he has the talent on his own. He doesn’t talk about the regular rap topics (because he’s only 17) but he still gives a great performance and establishes his own sound. The album begins with a poem called “The Arrival”, performed by Chris Classic. It is an inspirational message to Diggy but can affect anyone who hears it: Those cold lonely dark hallways called “what if”, yeah those are around but if you don’t back down. The second track, “Hello World”, is Diggy’s introduction to the world as an emcee and he shows that nothing will stop him from conquering hip-hop. Track three, “I Need To Know”, deals what all artists go through: dealing with people who just want to be around him because of his success. He addresses friends, girls, and even family to see if they support him no matter what. Diggy raps about subjects that would seem mature for his age, but more hip-hop artists should follow his lead. “Unforgivable Blackness” talks about being black; the good and the bad. He talks about people like Malcolm X who died to help us as a race. Diggy also has some songs for the ladies and he shows you how a guy SHOULD speak to you. In the song “4 Letter Word”, Diggy talks about love and even sings! He says that love should be appreciated: No matter who’s around, I show affection, walk you on the inside of the sidewalk for protection. Too cute! The first single from the album is “Do It Like You” featuring Jeremih, which is a fun song about a girl who he likes. It shows a positive way for a guy to approach you without wanting to have sex and every girl should expect that. Overall, Unexpected Arrival is a strong debut for Simmons, who reached as high as number two on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Album chart. Listen for his new single, “88” and pick up this album that is in stores now.
Music star Rihanna is in her first leading movie role as Petty Officer Cora Raikes, a weapons specialist on the crew of USS John Paul Jones. The movie comes out May 19th.

SUMMER DATING
Relationships
Get his attention… the RIGHT way
It’s summertime & you will guys run into new guys everyday! Here are a few tips to make a GOOD impression:
1
4
Look In His Eyes
Getting eye contact will let him know that you are open to him approaching you, and maybe it will help you go to him. This is a way to stand out, especially if there are other girls around.
Get In the Game
If you will be around him often, go ahead and talk to him. Once you start a conversation, you will see if you have something in common and that will bring something to pick up with next time you see him.
Don’t Put Yourself Down
If you see him playing a game with his friends, ask if you can play. You may not know how, but he can teach you and that will be the icebreaker to talk after.
5
Talk To Him
When you are around your crush, avoid dissing yourself or pointing out your flaws. You want him to like you for you, so you want to bring the best attention to yourself. You don’t want to come off as insecure.
Stay Positive
It may be hot or have an itchy mosquito bite, but try not to complain too much around him. He will see that you have a good attitude even when the situation is not the best.
Be YOU
Don’t try to do the same thing that every other girl is doing. You are more likely to stand out to him if you are yourself and act the same way that you would in any situation.
