Club Affiliation Brochure 2018–19
Welcome to the 2018–19 Club Affiliation brochure. By working closely with the ECB, Cricket East can provide a clear and robust package of benefits aimed at supporting you, your club and everyone associated. Affiliation is not simply about registering your team to play. Every club can take advantage of the help and support on offer, to achieve as many of your objectives as possible and to be an active member of our cricket family.

LEVELS OF AFFILIATION Cricket East has two levels of affiliation: • P rimary Affiliation - for all Cricket East clubs in Bedfordshire and Huntingdonshire • Associate Affiliation - for non-Cricket East clubs playing in Bedfordshire and/or Huntingdonshire
CONDITIONS OF AFFILIATION Renewal dates and deadline
The 2018–19 affiliation year runs from 1st October 2018 to 30th September 2019 – covering the 2019 season. The deadline for renewal of your affiliation for 2018-19 is 30th November 2018. A reduced fee will be payable if your renewal is received by this date.
Safe Hands
Cricket East takes the care and responsibilities of all club members very seriously. All affiliated clubs, as a minimum operating standard, are required to adopt the ECB Safe Hands Policy. In addition to protecting children in cricket, the ECB Safe Hands Policy aims to introduce good practice, raise awareness and provide peace of mind both for the club and for those visiting the club as part of an opposition team.
Club Welfare Officer
A major part of the ECB Safe Hands Policy is the appointment and training of a Club Welfare Officer (CWO) who will advise and ensure that Safeguarding is being adhered to in the club. Cricket East expects all clubs to appoint and train their own Club Welfare Officer ready for the 2019 season. The CWO must attend two training courses – Safeguarding & Protecting Children and Safe Hands – and complete a DBS or vetting check, all of which needs to be updated every three years.
Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
Some volunteer roles, such as welfare officer, scorer, umpire, junior manager, captain and coach, require a vetting or DBS check. For a list of volunteer roles that require a DBS check, please go to the Cricket East website or contact Cricket East.
Volunteers
As part of your online affiliation, all clubs must supply details of key contacts. Please note that some volunteer roles, such as coach and team manager, are required to complete a First Aid course and/or a Safeguarding & Protecting Children course. This may be in addition to the DBS check. Please go to the Cricket East website for more information.
