Water Quality Control Operations Program

TheSIUEEnvironmentalResourcesTrainingCenter(ERTC)WaterQualityControlOperationsProgramisa one-year,full-timeprogramofstudyleadingtoacertificateofcompletion.ClassesmeetTuesday-Fridayfor ninemonthsstartinginmid-Augusteachyear.Duringthesummer,studentscompletea10-weekinternship programwheretheyworkfiveweeksatadrinkingwatertreatmentplantandfiveweeksatawastewater treatmentplant.Uponcompletionofthefull-yearprogram,studentsarequalifiedtoenterthewaterand wastewaterindustryaswateroperators,wastewateroperators,distribution/collectionworkers,laboratory techniciansormaintenanceworkersallforlessthan$10,000.
The ERTC facility provides studentswith two fully equipped wet chemistry teaching labs, classrooms, auditorium, library/computercenter,30,000gallon/daytraining-scaledrinkingwaterandwastewatertreatmentplant, andthe0.5milliongallon/daySIUEUniversitywastewatertreatmentplant.
