Admission Criteria Admission to the University, plus the following additional requirements: • Completion of all Academic Development courses required by the University • Completion of any courses required to address School of Engineering high school deficiencies. • Eligibility to enroll in Pre-Calculus (MATH 125) at a minimum • Maintenance of a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 For more information about declaring a major: siue.edu/engineering/student-services/prospective-students.shtml


Interested but not yet eligible to declare? • Take college algebra course at SIUE (MATH 120) or community college in summer 2020 • Take MATH 120 at SIUE in fall 2020, declare engineering in spring 2021 while taking Pre-Calculus (MATH 125)


Pre-Engineering • Once you are eligible to declare, you start as Pre-engineering with a concentration in your intended major • Once you take 300-level engineering classes, you will then declare your intended major


Admission to Upper Division The following programs require an upper-division application: • • • •

Civil Engineering Industrial Engineering Mechanical Engineering Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering

Satisfactory completion of lower-division general education courses (English, speech, chemistry, mathematics and physics) shown in the first two years of the program with a GPA of at least 2.0. Satisfactory completion of lower-division engineering courses (CS, CE, ECE, ME) shown in the first two years of the program with a grade of C or better. An approved application for admission to upper-division engineering courses. This form is available in the Engineering Student Services office.
