Frequently Asked Questions Can students request a roommate? Yes, they can! Applicants can request someone on the housing application or use RoomSync, an online roommate matching application. Applicants will receive an invitation to join RoomSync in spring 2019 after completing a housing application. All roommate requests must be mutual and received by the application deadline. How do students prepare for move-in? Updated move-in information for each term can be found at siue.edu/housing/movein. This site also includes valuable information on what to bring, what not to bring and how to connect with a new housing community. Do you have other living options available? University Housing offers gender inclusive housing, in addition to housing for transgender students, domestic partnerships and civil unions. Additional information can be found at siue.edu/housing or by contacting our office at housing@siue.edu.
Is housing available for the summer session? University Housing offers summer housing in limited locations. Residents must meet enrollment requirements. What is the difference between the meal plans? Plan A and Plan B are 60/40 plans. Sixty percent of the meal plan covers some of the operational costs of Dining Services. The remaining 40 percent of the meal plan balance is available to spend for food purchases at campus dining venues. Whenever mandatory meal plan participants purchase made-to-order items, the items are charged at 40 percent of the retail cost. Cougar Bucks are declining balance plans, dollar for dollar, that can be used for dining, in addition to other campus services. Are students required to live on campus? SIUE reserves the right to require all undergraduate first- and second-year students from outside a 60-mile radius of campus, with limited exceptions, to live in University Housing. The full policy and updates can be found at siue.edu/housing.
