Rebirth,
Embracing recent contemporary cultural shift, this project is everything, everywhere, all at once. The rich variety of componenets: mechanical, antomical, human, non-human, are carefully curated to be perceived in a flat hierarchy. Yet they exists in one coherant manner with continuity and mutuality.

WHAT IF buildings are living ecosystems and our worlds are no longer homogeneous ?
everything , everywhere , all at once ...
Asserting itself as a selfsustained living architecture, non-human mechanical parts work together with human spaces to form an ever-looping ecosystem.
anatomy The interior fully celebrates a living ecosystem. Inspired by human anatomy, spaces act as discrete, but non-hierarchical organs, that work together as one system. For example, auditorium is the heart of the project, since rehabilitation entails learning. Tattoo removal center is the liver, serving the purpose of cleansing.

the plan The plan is a demonstration of how spaces are segregated according to the two main functions: the visual art program and the culinary program. The visual art side is encompassed by rough undulating walls that almost feels like the interior of a body part, this grotesque language was developed in earlier exercises. From the wall to the ground, the flooring takes up a poppy graffiti language which has been another one of our projects’ major motifs. Graffiti strokes created by the fast-moving body influences the space into a fluid one, which compliments the
program as an open area for activities to flow constantly. On the other hand, functional programs are pushed into spaces that are more architecturally appropriate. The intermediate space is an open atrium which serves the purpose of blurring the boundary. When seen at a larger scale, the two main areas are segregated, but at smaller scales, the big space transforms and grows into discrete but interconnected spaces. Visual cues are implemented at certain moments, in order to inform meaningful spaces.

WHAT IF a wooden office and a metal masonry museum has got to bind ?
By the physical operation of colliding chunks, a new facade system is created from the two monotonous building facades. Pattern

design process Upon study of corner treatments of masonary, a cutting angle is introduced, enabling angled surfaces. A continuation from flat to angled walls, a weaving moment is created. This language facilitates the overall concept of “colliding volumes”. These colliding fades ‘take turns’ as interior walls and exterior walls. The angular cuts are therefore essential to forming the spatial and facade capabilities of the design.

professional Guangzhou South Station Expansion is a massive TOD (transit-oriented development) involving multiple international consultants. Project status was constantly changing according to response from clients and other consultants. There were a lot to mitigate with. Hence The experience was immensely valuable.
The client adopted our strategy to break down the lengthy facade into segments, where different facade treatments were designated to each segments according to their locational relation with the urban fabric. Type A consist of curved panel with a holistic golden touch and subtle detail of the fritted glass in front; Type B is an
economical green facade contributing to sustainability absorbing excessive carbon dioxide from the carpark; Type C is a parametric facade which resemble the movement of wind giving elegance to the huge mass: in the mean time being a cost-effective modular unit system.
