This class was very relaxing and friendly, and the teacher feedback was very helpful. I highly recommend the SI-UK PTE course because I improved a lot on my Reading skills which were not strong enough before. Also, the small group size makes it easier for the teacher to focus on individual problems. I definitely managed to improve my English level!

The atmosphere in the class was friendly enough so that students felt confident to participate in tasks. Support from the teacher was helpful when checking homework and giving us tips to get better results on the different parts of the test. I managed to improve my English level and I would recommend this course to everyone because it is a practical and focused IELTS course, it doesn’t waste your time at all.

The ultimate objective of my professional career is to equip people with the necessary skills to solve problems in developing countries, particularly in terms of educational development, and to propose effective solutions which make good use of local people and things to solve educational problems in developing countries. I believe that working for a development consultant agency dealing with educational development projects will allow me to attain my goal. At graduate school, I went on a trip to the Kubuchi desert near Mongolia in China where I took part in a forestation project. Through this tour, I developed a strong interest in cultural differences and wealth gaps in the country and between rich and poor nations. I was moved by the seriousness and would like to devote myself to working in the area of international cooperation in the future. After graduating, I chose to work for an NGO to learn about international cooperation. That was a great experience for me; however, I could come to understand the difficulty of working as a NGO member in developing countries without expertise. To get expertise and work experience, I decided to become a teacher. After working for 3 years as a public high school teacher in Japan, I applied to a volunteer work program for 2 years in a developing country. My job was to lecture and introduce methods of how to teach in Japanese primary schools in the area of mathematics to local primary school teachers in Spanish in Honduras, Central America. I worked closely with the local Board of Education in the village and lived with a Honduran family. I dedicated myself to my work and really enjoyed communicating with Honduran people. My counterpart who was a superintendent of the educational affairs in the village had a great passion for education and worked more than standard Japanese workers. Through working with her, I understood the importance of local people being educated enough to decide and solve problems in their community. To achieve my objective, it is imperative to plan and manage the projects appropriately based on deep communication and profound analysis of social, political and economic aspects in the local area. I strongly believe that I need a more sophisticated and wider knowledge. Thus, the Education and Development program at your instituion is the best course for me because this course will allow me to specialize and develop a deep understanding and better prepare me for my future goal. In the academic course, I propose the following academic objectives. First, I want to gain a fundamental knowledge of educational developments, and pursue processes contributing to not only economic development but real happiness for local people. Secondly, I want to learn a variety of methods which will in turn allow the local people to become vitalized and independent. Finally, I want to obtain the practical ability to manage projects and communication skills to build strong mutual understandings with clients.

20th January 2010 To Whom It May Concern: It is my pleasure to recommend Ms. Smith for admission to your program. I instructed Ms. Smith in her junior and senior years in my regular Social Psychology class held once a week and in my Social Psychology seminar. Also, I gave her guidance on her graduate thesis as the instructor in charge. Through her dedication to her studies, and the eagerness with which she approached her research projects, Ms. Smith has proven herself to be a truly mature and responsible individual. As a professor of Humanities and Social Science, specializing in Social Psychology, at your University, I have come across many students with an outstanding knowledge and understanding of Social Psychology and related areas. However, Ms. Smith is such a rare student in that she contributed to my seminar in a meaningful way by providing feedback and interaction which was gained from references in English and also by sharing her work experience with other seminar members. Her efforts and attitude to broaden her horizons through my lectures and her own research were quite remarkable. I believe not only that Ms. Smith will gain much from the opportunities and experiences afforded her by your university, but also that she will perform admirably and greatly contribute to your program. Ms. Smith is an outstanding student, and I give her my full recommendation.

20th January 2011

To me, a place of higher learning must have an environment that is conducive for active learning. It is undeniable that Newcastle University have the best facilities: the Robinson Library has over one million books! Besides providing the best place for study, Newcastle is also a good place for entertainment. It is very rare to be able to find a university of world ranking in such a wonderful city.
