Knowing you do not enjoy it is better than wondering if you would have. WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS AFTER GRADUATION? I have many, yet the forefront of one of them is to simply graduate from college, and find a job that both suits me and pays well. GOOD ADVICE FOR UNDERCLASSMEN: I have received a good deal of advice about high school, and how to handle it for years now. A good deal of it was great advice, yet I feel there is one bit of advice that is more important than most. Out of everything I have learned about high school, being persistent is the best thing you can do. Having or developing persistence towards schooling is an invaluable trait. Being able to plow through an assignment, even if you may be worn down, is what is going to give you a good shot at getting through high school successfully. Simply be persistent and don’t ever give up.

It was our last league game with a crazy student section and a packed house. WHAT IS THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU’VE RECEIVED? My parents always told me to dream big and not put limits on myself. WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS AFTER GRADUATION? I plan to attend Concordia University majoring in biology while playing volleyball for them. WHAT ARE YOUR HOPES, DREAMS AND ASPIRATIONS? I hope to have a successful college volleyball career while earning my biology degree. Then use what I learned in college for a career in the medical field. GOOD ADVICE FOR UNDERCLASSMEN: Don’t take shortcuts or the easy way out. Take harder classes so you are prepared for the future. I have been on the varsity volleyball team since my freshman year, and we won league my senior year. I have also been on the varsity basketball and track teams. Most recently, I have been a part of an elite volleyball club that is in Eugene. In school, I have been in the leadership class, holding the offices of Freshman and Sophomore Vice President, and junior class President. During my time in the class, I attended the OASC Leadership conference as a representative for Siuslaw High School. When I was in the class, some classmates and I fundraised money for the Polar Plunge which benefits the Special Olympics and I also participated in the event itself. Being in Interact Club and HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America), I also get to participate in other community service projects. Through Interact, we started a cyber senior project where we went to the Shorewood and were paired with one of the residents and helped them learn more about technology and how to use Skype, transfer photos, and whatever else they needed help with. With HOSA, we went caroling and Christmas card making at Regency. My favorite experience so far, however, was my job shadow at the Orthopedic building in town shadowing Dr. Hanson. It was an amazing experience and I enjoyed learning so much. My most recent accomplishments were getting nominated for Future First Citizen and being Rotary Student of the Quarter.
