WELCOME TO THE FIRST EDITION OF MY SEASONAL LOOKBOOK, 2020 WINTER EDITION. After hearing that so many of you guys love the Gift Guides and seeing all that content in one place, I wanted to create something similar that would make sense throughout the year. With that, these lookbooks were born. Think of these lookbooks as the only digital magazine you need to read each season. In them, you’ll find a MOOD, motivating and relevant content, recipes, items to shop, fashion I’m feeling, and basically what’s inspiring me for the season. I hope you enjoy. If you do, I promise to keep delivering them each season!

xoxoSivan

1

Go through your bank accounts and find any random subscriptions or charges that you can ditch. That shit adds up!

2

Sit up straight. Good posture is better on your body long-term and it instantly makes you look more confident.

3

If you hate something about your life, stop complaining. Make a change.

4

Dump the guy that doesn’t treat you well. Same thing goes for friends and toxic people in general.

5

Stop saying yes to things you don’t want to do. Before you commit, ask yourself, “would I want to go and do this right this second?” If the answer is no, say no.

6

Commit to making your room, apartment, home, whatever, a place that you truly love.

7

Set seasonal goals for yourself, then check in with them weekly to see how you’ll accomplish each and schedule that into your calendar.

8

Turn your phone on Airplane Mode an hour before bed and don’t turn it off until you’ve accomplished your morning routine

9

Mute or unfollow people on social media who aren’t serving your life, morals, or good energy.

10

Stop making excuses and find a workout routine that you can stick to.

6

11

Instead of binge-watching TV every night, use some nights to read or listen to a podcast that will improve your life.

12

Learn how to cook a few recipes that get you through every situation: a couple of easy weeknight meals, an appetizer to bring to parties, and a killer cocktail (obviously).

13

Make a motivating playlist that you can turn on whenever you’re in a shitty mood or being lazy.

14

Ask yourself how you’re furthering your career each day.

15

Set an alarm on your phone 1x a month to quickly organize your home/closet/car.

16

Spend less money on trendy, cheap shit and invest in items that you’ll wear non-stop.

17

Find ways to automate your life (bills, chores, work, etc.) and make life run more smoothly.

18

Stop saying sorry or lessening yourself for other people.

19

Before buying anything, ask yourself “do I actually love this?” If you don’t, skip.

20

Be a kinder person and do something for someone else every damn day. It’ll pay off and get the good energy flowing throughout the year.

FAKE TAN. REAL YOU. NO FILTER. We’re all better people with a tan, am I right?! Rather than baking in the sun, damaging your skin, or looking orange and streaky, I bring you a hydrating, gradual self-tanning cream that will give you a natural-looking glow and color. Infused with shea butter, cocoa butter, and passion fruit oil, this gradual self-tanner will leave your skin dewy and bronzy. Easy to apply, no funky smells, no build-up, no sticky residue. Forget filters, now you can look just as tan IRL!

+ SET GOALS

+ DEEP CLEAN

I’m not about to go all Tony Robbins on you but if you want to be successful, you need goals. Don’t be one of those people who goes through life without focusing on setting tangible goals for yourself. What do you want to focus on this season? And more importantly, how can you get there? Set calendar reminders, book a coffee date with a mentor, make shit happen!

We have an amazing housekeeper who comes 1x a week but you know there are areas that get missed. Once a season, it’s time for a very deep clean. This includes cleaning rugs / furniture, moving beds and big pieces and cleaning underneath, scrubbing the windows, etc. You know I love this shit!

+ MAKE A BIG ASS LIST Separate from goals and my weekly to-do list, I like to jot down everythingggg on my mind. I’m psycho about lists and it’s the only way I’m so productive. That dentist appointment I’ve been meaning to book, a new class I want to try with Capri, something around the house that needs to be fixed, etc. I keep this in my office and designate an hour a week to getting this type of stuff checked off. It’s amazing how freeing this is for your mind – having designated time to work on all of life’s random tasks that pop up. But first, you need the long list.

+ PLAN A FEW FUN THINGS Paul and I both enjoy traveling and I’m a better person when I have trips to look forward to. While you don’t need to plan a trip to Italy to feel good about a season, I do think booking a few fun things is important. Whether it’s something basic like a pumpkin patch or a girl’s weekend, get something on the calendar that feels seasonal and exciting. I feel like I haven’t seen my friends nearly enough lately so I’m doing this ASAP.

+ FRESH RECIPES I love to cook and am always down with trying a new recipe. I find that new seasons are a good opportunity to get out of making the same things over and over, especially as produce comes in and out of season. For fall, I’m all about soups, healthy alternatives to heavy pasta dishes, and new red wine, obviously.

16

+ EDIT MY CLOSET If you’ve seen my messy closet on Stories, you’re probably judging me on this tip, but know that I have intentions. I’m actually good about cleaning things out every few months, especially when weather shifts. I suggest making three piles: 1. Clothes you want to keep but are out of season (this doesn’t change too much in LA but there are some items I only wear per season), 2. Donations 3. Things to sell. From there, literally touch EVERY SINGLE PIECE in your closet and dresser. Don’t forget your pajamas, bras / underwear, and even jewelry. Be ruthless! If you haven’t worn something the entire season, will you really? Can you at least store it away for now? Do you actually like the item? I’m no Marie Kondo but I do believe in the power of loving everything you own. Get rid of the sh*t you don’t! Paul has bins waiting for me and I nicely pack away everything out of season. When you go to pull things out from your bins (like coats that you stored away last spring), ask the same question – do you still love it? If not, #bye! To end this process, I take note of what “holes” I have in my closet. Maybe my jackets are outdated and I need a new one. Or my undies have seen better days. Shopping for the holes is obviously the best part and I feel justified doing so once I clear space.

+ MUSIC AND BREAKFAST Paul makes me breakfast every morning and I’m a lucky bitch for that, I get it. And in general, mornings are one of my favorite parts of my day because of how we approach them. We turn on music, open up the blinds, talk about our days, and connect. Now that we have Capri, I appreciate the lightness of the family morning time even more, and I think she loves it, too. Even if you have a crazy schedule, try to make the mornings feel fun and light. Connect with your family or partner if you have one and try not to let the stress creep in from the minute you wake up. I’m slowly getting into podcasts and I like the idea of listening to a motivating one to start your day.

+ SUPER QUICK SKINCARE

I feel A LOT better if I start my day with Melissa Wood’s smoothie (google ‘detox’ on my site for the recipe) and then eat breakfast (eggs + avocado toast) later in the morning (at like 11 or after my workout). If you’re feeling bloated or unhealthy, try to have a healthy smoothie or juice to start your day. I’m also not above buying vegetable juices from the store – it’s just an expensive habit.

+ PHONE ON AIRPLANE MODE If I’m feeling extra stressed, using my phone’s Airplane Mode is everything. I’ll turn it on at night and leave it on Airplane Mode until I’m ready to deal with the outside world aka DMs, emails, texts, etc. Airplane Mode essentially blocks all notifications on your phone so you can ignore everyone until you’re ready. LIFE CHANGING.

OK so remember how I said I don’t always get to everything on the list? This being one of them, but when I do, it feels 100. This tip is more for those of you who work from home or have flexible schedules, like me. If you’re already getting fully ready each morning, skip this one. If I’m up before Capri or if Paul is getting her up, I love spending 5-10 minutes on myself. This literally involves a cold splash of water to my face, maybe some ice rolling if I’m puffy or tired, a quick Vitamin C serum or face mist, brushing my teeth, and switching from PJs to this loungewear. It’s 5 minutes and makes such a difference in my morning motivation. I’ll eventually get ready later in the morning, but this quick routine helps set the tone for my day.

+ HEALTHY SMOOTHIE

+EAT NUTRITIOUSLY.

+ EXERCISE REGULARLY.

A well balanced diet is SO important. Every meal should be providing you with some type of nutritional value. Empty food doesn’t count. To give you an example of a normal day’s meals:

It used to be all about how I looked, but now it’s more about how I feel. My mental health depends on my weekly workouts to keep a clear mind and sharp and also the endorphins really do keep me a happier person. I have noticed a difference in my moods when I’m working out regularly versus not at all.

Breakfast: 2 eggs, half an avocado, some fruit Lunch: A salad with chicken Dinner: Chicken, cous cous, green beans

+ FIND BALANCE.

Snacks: Fruit, yogurt, pita chips + hummus, nuts

This one is vague but so necessary for your person / social life. If you love to party and drink that’s fine, but try to limit it to 2 days per week. And when you DO drink, don’t get blackout drunk. 2-3 drinks MAX. I know we all have different tolerances but I find that 2 is my sweet spot and 3 is when I’m Ubering home. Anything beyond that is excessive and unnecessary (for my health, hangover, and the people I’m with). Same goes for travel. Make sure to space out international travel and give yourself plenty of time to recover between trips. Your body will thank you. If you’re super social and like to go out for dinner more than eating in at home, space them out.

What doesn’t count as real food: bagel with cream cheese, waffles / pancakes, pasta with cheese, potatoes, pizza, corn, chips, etc. Obviously there’s tons more but just giving basic examples since these are the common things I see people eating for meals.

+ GET ENOUGH SLEEP. Sleep is so damn important to your health. Not only will your physical appearance benefit from it, you’ll feel more invigorated, energized, and your mind will work better. You cannot expect your brain and body to perform at optimal levels if you’re sleep deprived.

+ DRINK WATER. DUH. In the morning I crave my morning drink. It can be iced chai, a fresh juice, or a smoothie, but the rest of the day I’m chugging water like crazy. Your pee should be crystal clear (unless you’re taking vitamins, then it will prob be kinda funky florescent). I sometimes do sparkling water during the day to keep things interesting, and obviously when I’m not pregnant I drink wine / cocktails in the evening, but I keep it all balanced with by consuming enough water. Soda…..it’s no longer 1998, I think we can all move on from that now, right?

+ GIVE YOURSELF DOWN TIME. Lastly, find time within the week (or every other week) to just do you. Rest, relax, watch TV, read a book, burn essential oils, lay out, hit the beach, go on a hike, whatever. Just makes sure you’re doing things that your body and mind will benefit from. It’s not all about swallowing vitamins and chugging water, it’s also about leading a positive life. Value your time and spend it how it makes YOU happy.

+ TAKE VITAMINS. Before pregnancy I was taking my daily probiotic and collagen. Now I’m taking WAY more but in general I don’t like to overdo the vitamin / supplement thing. Stick to what your body needs. Things like immune support (lysine), healthy bacteria (probiotic), vitamin C, B12, etc. If you don’t eat veggies, take a green supplement.

+ PLAN AHEAD. And think ahead. Don’t just rush into anything–think about the most efficient way to get it done.

+ CONSIDER TRAFFIC. If you live in LA always plan on being in traffic. If you luck out and don’t hit traffic, sit in your car for those few extra mins and binge on IG. Better that than being late.

+ MAKE A LIST. Love a list. But if the list isn’t readily available it’s pointless. Use your phone’s Notes app, email yourself, write on a physical piece of paper, whatever works.

+ BE STRATEGIC. To be perfectly honest, cooking taught me time management. Knowing which dish to prepare or cook first in order for the meal to come together at the right / same time took practice. It’s a strategy game but if done correctly, you will win.

+ W AKE UP EARLIER. I’m SO not a morning person, but forcing myself to be awake within the 7:00AM hour (and trying for 6:30) really helps me have productive mornings and starts my day on the right foot.

+ LIMIT SOCIAL MEDIA + TV HOURS. It used to be that kids were allowed a certain amount of time in front of the TV, but now it’s social media that consumes us. It’s tough, especially when my entire business revolves around it, but it’s crucial to my sanity, vision, and time. Social media can suck me in for literal hours before I realize I’ve just wasted so much time that I’ll never get back. 30 minutes in the morning (usually when I’ve just woken up), 2 minute increments throughout the day (set a timer), and 20-30 minutes before bed is my goal. Just making yourself aware of this is good. Baby steps.

+ SET TIMERS. I allot a set amount of time for certain activities in my life and it is amazing how quickly time passes when a timer is set. For a while I was carving out 60 minutes everyday to read a book and I was always depressed how quickly that timer would go off. Being aware of time will help you realize just how valuable it is.
