MATERIALS

• 3 7oz/200g balls (each approx 437yd/400m) of Noro Ito (wool) in #2 Abiko • One size 9 (5.5mm) circular needle, 40"/101.5cm long, OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE • Stitch markers

GAUGE

14 sts and 20 rows to 4"/10cm over St st using size 9 (5.5mm) needle. TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.

SHAWL

Entrelac Center Cast on 156 sts. Set-up row (RS) Knit. Tier 1 (top triangles) *P2, turn; k2, turn; p3, turn; k3, turn; p4, turn; k4, turn; p5, turn; k5, turn; p6, do not turn work; rep from * to end of row. After finishing Tier 1, you will have 26 triangles. Turn work to RS.

Tier 2 (left-leaning rectangles) Bind off 5 sts (you will have 1 st on RH needle). With RH needle, pick up and k 4 sts evenly along side of triangle (or rectangle), k1 from LH needle; *turn, p6; turn, k5, SKP; rep from * until you reach next gap on LH needle.

**With RH needle, pick up and k 5 sts evenly along side of triangle (or rectangle), k1 from LH needle; *turn, p6; turn, k5, SKP; rep from * until you reach next gap on LH needle. Rep from ** until end of row. Turn work. After finishing tier 2, you will have 25 left-leaning rectangles—151 sts.

Tier 3 (right-leaning rectangles) Bind off 5 sts (you will have 1 st on RH needle). With RH needle, pick up and p 5 sts along side of rectangle; *turn, k6; turn, p5, p2tog; rep from * until you reach next gap on LH needle.
