2014 INSPIRE AND TRANSFORM: NURTURING FAITH-FILLED WORLD CLASS LEARNING
Ecuador Fundraising Fundraising for next year’s trip to Ecuador received a great boost on Friday with a very successful race night. Run by the students and staff who make up the group, the evening generated over £1300 pounds towards next year’s trip.
FOR PARENTS, CARERS, FAMILIES & PARISHES
above, organised an excellent coffee morning with homebaking and a raffle. They managed to involve staff, pupils and parents in providing the baked goods and also persuaded Mr. Corbett to donate a huge range of fabulous fruit and veg. S1/ P7 Mass of Welcome
As with the previous trips this is expected to be a lifechanging experience for our dedicated little group of volunteers, who meet every week.
We were delighted to welcome to the school last week pupils from across the learning community as we celebrated our first transition day of the session.
The aim, like last year is to be able to take over much needed funds to help with the purchase of vital educational equipment and to help the young people in Ecuador develop their English speaking and writing.
As we reported last week this took place on the European Day of Languages the pupils enjoyed a wide range of language themed tasks ranging from the Hokey-Cokey in Gaelic to a treasure hunt. The pupils’ feedback was excellent and showed that they had enjoyed a great deal about their first day at St. Joseph’s.
Our thanks to all the parents, staff, friends and family who supported the race night. A special thanks to the business sponsors S&D Home Improvements, Allshades Curtains and Blinds; MJC a local maintenance, joinery and construction company. Macmillan Coffee Morning Last Friday morning S5 pupils in the Steps to Work class hosted a coffee morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer. The excellent sum of £290.20 was raised. The group, pictured
The focal point of the day was a Mass at St. Matthew’s Church attended by all S1 and P7 pupils. Celebrated by Fr. Chambers the Mass celebrated the links that exist between the pupils and concentrated on the theme of community. The readings, intercessions and music were all led by pupils and, as ever, the parishioners were only too pleased to accommodate us at their ten o’clock Mass. We are looking forward to more transition days soon.
