S3 DIPLOMA
OF
ACHIEVEMENT Celebrating Success in the Broad General Education June 17th , 2014
St. Joseph’s Academy, Kilmarnock
We l c o m e This is a very special evening. The certificates issued tonight are not just a recognition of the academic attainment of pupils, nor are they awards for merit or effort. They are a sincere attempt to capture and describe the growth of each individual S3 pupil over the past three years. It is worth pausing to think about that and to consider the ways in which each young person represented here this evening has changed in that time. Some of these changes are obvious, physical developments; others are more subtle shifts in personality, character, skill and talent. Sometimes the smallest changes are the most significant. All of these changes will be in response to challenges, opportunities, perhaps even to upheaval and uncertainty.
“We are all better than we
So tonight we are celebrating the very best of the young people in S3, not just their talents, but their confidence, their resilience and their potential. We hope you enjoy this evening and, on behalf of all the staff of St. Joseph’s we warmly congratulate all the pupils in S3 on completing their broad general education and wish them well for the future.

Outward Bound
In memory of Jenna Moriarty, 25.11.99 - 11.06.13, who should be here tonight to receive her Diploma.
His enthusiasm and positive attitude are infectious. He has selflessly contributed his skills and vast knowledge of music technology to help the school and the wider community. His willingness to help others and his integrity is beyond reproach. I can genuinely say that the school would be at a loss without him.

In the future I would like to be a social worker, I want to make an impact on young people’s lives. I wouldn’t like any child to think that they are alone. I also just want to do the best I can. An S3 pupil’s ambition

I helped two first years settle in and talk about things that worried them by attending meetings every Tuesday at lunch. I got 4 green (top marks) for my French film review- "La Rafle." While I was the leader of my home team, we won the home team challenge on analysing different aspects of the book "The Midnight Palace". I was awarded full marks in my listening assessment in English.

I can appreciate how my time and effort into my work can really pay off. I can be independent in my working and show interest in my own hobbies. I can have a great new idea and assess the effectiveness of my song. Take responsibility. Be an effective leader. I can push myself to my limits.
