The psychological effect on the consumer and how they shop by creating an experience through graphics in retail stores. -Case study comparing experiences in 2 retail stores.
Dissertation Andy Broadey Tutor Rationale (200 words) A concept driven investigation into Retail brand personalities with a focus on packaging, POS and promotion. A concept driven investigation into Retail brand personalities with a focus on consumer interaction.
Statement of Intent (SOI) - (400 words) This year in my design practice I will explore briefs that will build on my knowledge of packaging and the retail industry, together with my dissertation they should both support and influence each other. So that I not only have a relevant portfolio but also the understanding of the retail industry to make me more desirable to design companies. I will explore different aspects of retail covering food, fashion, cosmetics etc. Through all promotional outcomes packaging, store graphics, pos, events, look-books and web. I intend to work on numerous live briefs to gain recognition and start to build a working practice. This will include collaborations with students from different courses such as fashion and photography. I will further my identity by creating a website and promotional materials and secure a second work placement for feb-may 2012 in the retail industry.

Brief 1 (Title) EL PIANO (based on ISTD Mutton Quad)
To re-brand El Piano restaurant in York, using inspiration from Arab and Spanish influences to create a new brand (business cards/ bills), menu’s, restaurant graphics/ signage and proposal for web.

Brief 2 (Title) Urban Outfitters (based on YCN Ted Baker & UO Valentines brief)
Campaign for UO’s aut/wint range keeping with its trendy, electic and creative Brand values to create a unique campaign. Out/ Instore graphics, lookbook, new bags, graphics for web and event/ giveaways for customer.

Brief 3 (Title) Book Cover and Packaging Design D&AD
Produce contemporary cover designs for 3 or more of the titles by H G Wells that work as a set and also interactive packaging to package the collection of books. Look at creating patterns from imagery in the stories or illustrative type.
4.
Brief 4 (Title) Fashion Label
Work with a fashion student on creating an identity for them. Start with identity to produce business cards and proposal for web, then look at continuing the project further to tags, bags, packaging, look book collections and possible help with end of year show.
