IN-STORE DESIGN D4R October 17th Upon my travels in London last week, I stumbled across the Ted Baker and Friends store in Bank, London and I was quite surprised to say the least. To begin with, the exterior design of the store was quite eye catching, with a customised QR Code visible in the window display to engage with consumers passing by. Once in the store, the retail design really was a visual delight. There was a Ted’s Grooming Room offering the finest in trims and wet shaves, a concierge service along with finishing touches such as an in-house tailor and a complimentary shoe and bag shine provided by Street Shine. The retail branding of the store demonstrates that Ted Baker have really taken into consideration the local demographics of the area and this has been reflected within the in-store design and the different types of services available to the consumer. Furthermore, I am not surprised
that Ted Baker and Friends has been awarded the shop fit/design of the year by the British Council of Shopping Centres as it really is an exceptional retailing environment.

SELF DIRECTED INTERVIEW: Ana Marie 03/05/12 Where did you get your inspiration for the Ted Baker project? Our main form of inspiration if i remember correctly was looking at the wonderful life stages of butterfly’s. We were very much inspired by the cocoon stage which is why we created hanging pods for the Ted Baker project. What was the concept behind the hanging baskets? At the time i was working in a creative team of 7 but 2 of us were given the creative freedom to create what we wanted as long as it was an abstract take on your modern day hanging basket.
was one of the first projects I was involved in after i finished university. In fact i remember thinking it was a huge deal at the time. It shaped me quite a lot as i discovered a love for materials, which is something that i was always interested in but this gave us a platform which sometimes seems so out of reach. I personally didn’t get coverage but Jam Design the company which i worked for at the time did. What are the challenges when working for Ted Baker? Challenges are launching and delivering the scheme at the same time around the world.
How did working with Ted Baker differ to working on personal projects?
Which concept was the most interesting to work with and why?
There is a big difference for me as I find it more challenging to work on personal projects. Self discovery and understanding your own individual style will forever be something that I find more rewarding.
All concepts present their own interest so all are interesting in their own way.
What skills, knowledge or coverage did you gain from working with such a well known brand as Ted Baker? Working with Ted Baker was really great as it
