Dear Anna Brown My name is Stephanie Oglesby and I am currently a BA (Hons) Graphic Design student in my second year at Leeds College of Art & Design. I am attaining First’s and High 2:1 grades at the moment and I’m working towards reaching a First for my overall degree. At this point in my education it is really important for me to gain relative work experience and I am looking to secure a work placement within the creative team at Gratterpalm throughout the summer as your company has been a real inspiration to me and has made me extremely excited about my future in this creative sector of the industry. I love the idea of design and advertising for the Retail sector, this is where I see myself heading as a designer and is the area in which I am starting to specialise in. Within my work it is really important for me to create an experience for the consumer, I try to make my designs engaging and interactive. I like taking a brand and exploring its personality pushing designs through both in-store and promotional material and I am exploring this further in my dissertation. I can work effectively in all areas of design from Print and Screen to Web and publications and have strong skills in packaging design as well as Type and Layout. My software skills cover Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects and Dreamweaver as well Quark Express in which I am confident in using all programmes. I am an extremely conceptually driven designer, I enjoy exploring an idea beyond its boundaries and find team projects a chance to share and create strong concepts. I have included in this email a Pdf sample of my work as well as my current CV and I would be very appreciative if you could have a look at my work so far as it will give you a good insight of who I am as a designer and show how passionate I am about my work. Any relevant feedback you could give would prove very beneficial to me at this stage in my studies and hopefully you’ll enjoy what you see too! I am looking for a week or two work placement or whatever is most suitable for your team, this will give me the ability to learn from your team of experts, gain a high understanding of the industry and hopefully the chance to share my ideas with you.
