PAINTING WITH MS. MARLA (New)

Learn to use yellow like Van Gough, make Cubist faces like Picasso, and discover the secrets of Monet's Lily Pads. Participants will learn about the world's greatest painters through stories and anecdotes while studying their most famous paintings. PRESCHOOL ARTIST This spring, Young Rembrandts introduces a variety of artistic lessons that will challenge and excite your child. A wonderfully illustrated flower pot will capture the spirit of the spring season. A cuddly teddy bear drawing will introduce our students to basic figure drawing. If your student has a curiosity for nature, he or she will love our bird bath and snail to help strengthen their art and compositional skills. LATE PICKUP POLICY The San Jose Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services wants to ensure the safety and well-being of every participant. Participants must be picked up at the scheduled class end time. If, after five minutes, a participant is not picked up, we may charge $1.00 per participant for every minute thereafter. All fees must be paid prior to the participant returning to class/program. We understand that emergencies may happen. DANCE DANCE-JAZZ, TAP, BALLET! This class features a mix of dance styles including ballet, jazz, and tap. Students learn the basic ballet positions, barre and center exercises, jazz isolations, traveling movements, and basic tap steps such as shuffles, rhythm exercises and springs. This tap/ballet class introduces children to the basics of both ballet and tap, combining creative movement, grace and balance. MUSIC & THEATRE BEGINNING DRUM SET Learn how to play drums in a Rock band. This course will provide students with the fundamentals of playing the drum set, reading music, understanding rhythm and tempo. Students will learn rudimentary stick exercises to help build muscle control and dexterity then apply these skills to play primary rock drum beats to popular rock songs. This fun and educational class is for the absolute beginner guitarist. Students will be introduced to the basics of guitar playing and music fundamentals by learning fun, contemporary songs. Topics include tuning, chord strumming, "power" chording, blues and the fundamentals of note and rhythm reading. Students will need to have their own acoustic guitar or electric guitar. Come and join staff for a fun filled week of exciting games, challenging sports, and creative arts projects. Campers are required to provide their own lunch and water everyday. A newsletter, listing the week's activities and trip information, will be distributed the first day of camp. After camp care will feature low key art and recreation activities.
