FUNDAMENTALS OF DRAWING

SPRING BREAK CAMP

It’s spring time and that can only mean one thing: SPRINGTIME FUN WITH YOUNG REMBRANDTS! If your child enjoys the outdoors they will love the upcoming Hummingbird lesson filled with color and whimsy. We’ll be drawing all season creating motorcycles, boats and even the butterfly life cycle! Artists will be challenged as they draw and shade a realistic portrait of famous composer Beethoven using color pencils. Sign up today! Come and join staff for a fun filled week of exciting games, challenging sports, and creative arts projects. Campers are required to provide their own lunch and water everyday. A newsletter, listing the week's activities and trip information, will be distributed the first day of camp. After camp care will feature low key art and recreation activities. We want to make this camp enjoyable for you and your child. Please let us know any accommodations or requests you may have by contacting 408.268-1133. All individuals registering for camp must be in grades K-5. If a session reaches capacity, your child will be placed on a waiting list. LATE PICKUP POLICY The San Jose Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services wants to ensure the safety and well-being of every participant. Participants must be picked up at the scheduled class end time. If, after five minutes, a participant is not picked up, we may charge $1.00 per participant for every minute thereafter. All fees must be paid prior to the participant returning to class/program. We understand that emergencies may happen. DANCE BABY BALLET (PARENT/CHILD) Baby Ballet encourages self-expression and fun! Children learn to respond to music, improve balance and agility, and express their feelings through dance. A variety of music and props such as scarves and teddy bears keep your little one entertained. Suggested Attire: Comfortable clothes or leotards, tights and tutus. MUSIC BEGINNING PIANO & KEYBOARDS Students will be taught the basics of playing music on the piano/keyboard. Topics include: basic notes, rhythm and theory as well as finger exercises, chords and scales, all with the goal of being able to play basic keyboard accomplaniment parts and fun songs. CONTINUING PIANO (YOUTH) .This is a follow up class to Beg. Piano Level 1. Students will work on music rudiments and songs as a group as well as receive some individual instruction. Topics include playing chords to popular and classic songs, melody playing and beginning solo piano skills. Class curriculum rotates each session so the student can repeat this class up to 4 times. SAN JOSE RECREATION PRESCHOOL Please consider the following policies and requirements before registering for a San Jose Recreation Preschool class:        

Requirements for a parent participation, volunteer, snack, etc varies by center. Teacher to child ration is 1:10 or better. Participants must be toilet trained by the first day of program. Non-registered children are not allowed in the class at any time. Please make arrangements for siblings on your participation day. A birth certificate may be requested for age confirmations. The City of San Jose, Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services provide recreational programs ONLY and not licensed childcare. After reaching the class capacity your child can be put on a waitlist. If spot becomes available at any SJ Recreation Preschool center, you will receive a call and be given the option to enroll at that center or to stay on the waiting list. Monthly payment plan is available, with auto-pay on the 20th of each month. A valid credit card must be on file for auto-pay option. (Kinder Prep & Little Learners only)

LITTLE LEARNERS Children will be introduced to socialization, positive self-esteem, following directions and simple learning concepts. Children will work on hand eye coordination, motor skills, while gaining independence through the use of circle time, music, songs, stories, play, arts and crafts. Food will be provided for cooking activities and may be provided for special events. Children must be fully potty trained before the start of class. KINDERPREP This class prepares your child for kindergarten with age-appropriate activities, learning concepts, socialization skills and fun. BEGINNER FENCING The Beginner Fencing Program is provided for children 7-14 years old who never fenced before or have very limited knowledge and experience in fencing. This fun and engaging fencing class introduces participants to the Olympic sport of fencing and gives them basic fundamentals needed to start fencing and develop basic skills. Skyhawks Beach Volleyball takes the energy and excitement of this great team sport and puts it all together into one fun-filled camp at Almaden Lake Park's volleyball court. All Access Sports & Recreation Specialized Programs All Access Sports and Recreation (AASR) provides a wide range of programs for individuals of all ages with all ability levels, including those with ambulatory and cognitive disabilities. Examples of programs, camps and special events offered by AASR include: adapted golf, power soccer, advanced wheelchair basketball, diabetes camp, cooperative dances, fiesta educative conference, group arts, healthy teens, cooking class, play camps, Junior Sports Camp and sports for all.
