Cartoonists will learn the basics of cartooning in this lively class! Students build technical skills of cartooning as they learn shading, highlighting, perspective and color theory while creating animals, faces, people, etc. Intermediate cartoonists will create more intricate projects. BEGINNING PIANO AND KEYBOARDS (NEW)

Itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s time to tumble & play! This is a parent participation class where you will help your child learn basic tumbling, such as: somersaults, crab walks, log rolls, bear walks, leap frogs, and bridges. We will do fun movement games and dances to promote balance, rhythm, and body control. We will sing songs, play with parachute, blow bubbles, do the limp, dance with props, and more! Students will be taught the basics of playing music on the piano/keyboard. Topics include: basic notes, rhythm and theory as well as finger exercises, chords and scales, all with the goal of being able to play basic keyboard accompaniment parts and fun songs. DOG OBEDIENCE

Beginning guitar is a course designed for students who have little or no experience playing guitar. Our primary focus will be learning the basic techniques used in popular music. Material covered will include reading chord diagrams, chord charts from song books, reading tablature, and the playing of scales and simple melodies. Students learn to train their dogs to heel, sit, stay, down stay, stand for examination, recall and socialize. Owners learn to problem solve and care for their dogs. Dogs must be 4 months old and be current with their first two sets of shots (includes rabies, bordatella, parvo) and come to class with a leash on. Whether your child loves to build things or destroy them, this week of camp includes lots of both! The junior Mad Science engineers will design and build structures using simple tools and their imaginations. Campers will even construct a geodesic dome big enough for all of them to sit inside. Kids will design simple machines using pulleys, wedges, screws and levers and have fun learning how catapults work. SAN JOSE RECREATION PRESCHOOL Please consider the following policies and requirements before registering for a San Jose Recreation Preschool class:       

Requirements for a parent participation, volunteer, snack, etc varies by center. Teacher to child ration is 1:10 or better. Participants must be toilet trained by the first day of program. Non-registered children are not allowed in the class at any time. Please make arrangements for siblings on your participation day. A birth certificate may be requested for age confirmations. The City of San Jose, Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services provide recreational programs ONLY and not licensed childcare. After reaching the class capacity your child can be put on a waitlist. If spot becomes available at any SJ Recreation Preschool center, you will receive a call and be given the option to enroll at that center or to stay on the waiting list. Monthly payment plan is available, with auto-pay on the 20th of each month. A valid credit card must be on file for auto-pay option. (Kinder Prep & Little Learners only)



LITTLE LEARNERS Children will be introduced to socialization, positive self-esteem, following directions and simple learning concepts. Children will work on hand eye coordination, motor skills, and gain independence through the use of circle time, music, songs, stories, play and arts and crafts.
