EDUCATION AND ENRICHMENT– EARLY RECREATION Please consider the following policies and requirements before registering for one of the preschool programs  Parents provide snack and stay to volunteer 1-2 times during the session.  Non-registered children are not allowed in the class at any time. Please make arrangements for siblings on your participation day(s).  A birth certificate may be requested for age verification.  The Hatchery Participants must be toilet trained by first day of program.  The City of San José, Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services provides recreational programs ONLY and not licensed childcare.  Class maximum is 20 or fewer. After reaching the enrollment capacity, your child can be put on a waitlist. Teacher to child ratio is 1:10  Children under the age of 4 years and 9 months cannot participate in a preschool program for more than 12 hours per week.

TIME FOR TWO’S & THREE’S AT THE FARM

Mary had a little lamb, the cow that jumped over the moon, and the three little pigs! Discover the world of farm animals through childhood stories. Children and parents will learn through activities, crafts, stories, and songs. In every class, participants will meet and learn about a farm animal. Every class covers a new farm animal story. Each class is a separate registration.

This program is a wonderful exploration for two and three year old's. The class will focus on socialization and learning through play. Children will have free choice of activities which include feeding the farm animals. Some activities may be messy, so wear your grubbies! Only enrolled children may attend. Price includes parent and one child only. NO SIBLINGS. NO EXCEPTIONS.

This program is an opportunity to introduce preschoolers to farm life and animals. Activities will include caring for farm animals, songs, stories, crafts, garden fun, and games to develop socialization skills, eye-hand coordination, and motor skills. Your child will also learn alphabet sounds, shapes, and colors. Participants must be toilet trained. The Hatchery Extended Lunch Care is available for students who are enrolled in both AM/PM Hatchery sessions. During the Hatchery Extended Lunch Care, participants will eat lunch and have a free choice of activities. WINTER BREAK CAMPS THE HATCHERY KINDER CAMP The Hatchery Kinder Camp is for children 3 to 5 years old to explore, create, have fun and grow. Your child will become more confident and independent as they make new friends and explore the farm. Activities include arts and crafts, games, gardening, water play, and one-on-one farm animal interaction. This Hatchery Kinder Camp session runs for one week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday only). Participants must be toilet trained and they must bring their own lunch, snacks, and drinks to camp everyday. PLEASE NOTE: Camp hours are 9 am to 2 pm. Extended care is NOT available. WINTER OUTDOOR CAMP AT ALUM ROCK PARK Spend your winter break at Spring Outdoor Adventure Camp located at Alum Rock Park. Activities include nature hikes, outdoor games, crafts, campfire and smores, educational lesson plans on wildlife, plants, and history of the park. Participants must bring their own lunch, snacks, and drinks to camp everyday. Extended Care is available from 3pm –6pm. EMMA PRUSCH FARM PARK REGISTRATION POLICIES    

Our method of registration is designed to offer equal access to all. San José residents and Active Adult members are eligible for early registration. Customers can register for any class at any PRNS facility. Registration will be accepted in person, mail, fax, or online. Phone registrations will not be accepted. Registration forms will be processed in the order they are received. Registration will be accepted until the second class meeting if the course is still available. If the course requested is full, the participant will be registered for their second choice or placed on a wait list. Please be prompt when dropping off or picking up your child from his/her class. Children may not enter the class until the scheduled class or activity time. Children who arrive late to a class or activity should enter quietly and join in the activity. If a class is cancelled by the City, a make-up class will be added to the end of the session. In the event that a class cannot be rescheduled for a make-up by the City, a refund will be issued for the missed class. If the participant misses a class, no refunds will be issued. All wait list participants will be contacted only if there is an available spot in the class.

REFUND/TRANSFER POLICY All refund and transfer requests need to be made in writing.  Requests may be submitted in person to any PRNS facility or by email to SJRegistration@sanjoseca.gov.  All refund and transfer requests must be received at least 14 calendar days prior to the start of the program/class. No refunds will be issued for cancellations received less than 14 calendar days prior to the start of the program/class.  There will be a $10 refund processing fee for EACH activity and EACH child. If a class was paid with cash or check, a refund check will be mailed and may take 6-8 weeks for processing.  If a class was paid with a credit card, the refund will be credited back to the credit card.  It may not be possible to refund the class materials charged by the instructor.  Refund and transfers may not be done online.  Transfers must be requested for classes in the same season.

MINIMUM ENROLLMENT/CLASS CANCELLATION The City of San José, Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services reserves the right to the cancel any class or activity that does not meet a set minimum enrollment. Please register early to avoid class cancellations. We will make every effort to notify you at least five days prior to the scheduled course starting date. Please do not purchase supplies until five days prior to the start of the class. If a class is canceled, you will receive a full refund from the City, excluding class supplies.

SATISFACTION GUARANTEED We want to provide quality programs to all participants. If you are not satisfied with your program, please let us know. Contact staff at your local facility or email us at SJRegistration@sanjoseca.gov

PRE-SCHOOL POLICIES Please refer to the SJ Recreation Preschool Section.

PAYMENT PLANS POLICY

Automatic payments are processed on the twentieth (20 th) day of each month. A full payment is required to hold your child’s spot for the following month. Additionally, if payment is not received by the 1st of the month, students will be withdrawn from the class. If your credit/debit card account changes, please notify the community center front desk staff. If you do not plan to have your child continue, we request that you notify the community center staff at least two (2) weeks prior to your child’s last day. This will allow us to stop your automatic payment on time.

LATE PICK UP POLICY The City of San José, Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services wants to ensure the safety and well-being of every participant. Participants must be picked up at the scheduled class end time. If, after five minutes, a participant is not picked up, we may charge $1.00 per participant for every minute thereafter. All fees must be paid prior to the participant returning to the class. We understand that emergencies may happen. If you have any emergency and are unable to pick up your child on time, contact the community center.
