EARLY CHILDHOOD RECREATION Please consider the following policies and requirements before registering for an ECR class offered by the City of San José Parents help to provide snack 1-2 times during the session, talk to instructor for details. Non-registered children are not allowed in the class at any time. Please make arrangements for siblings on your participation day. A birth certificate may be requested for age confirmations. Participants must be toilet trained by first day of program. (with the exception of the Time for Tots class) The City of San José, Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services provide recreational programs ONLY and not licensed childcare.
THE HATCHERY (KINDER TOT AND TINY TOT)
TIME FOR TWO’S & THREE’S AT THE FARM
This program is an opportunity to introduce preschoolers to farm life and animals. Activities will include caring for farm animals, songs, stories, crafts, garden fun and games to develop socialization skills, eye-hand coordination and motor skills. Your child will also learn alphabet sounds, shapes, and colors. Participants must be toilet trained.
This program is a wonderful exploration for two and three year olds. The class will focus on socialization and learning through play. Children will have free choice of activities, including feeding the farm animals. Some activities may be messy, so wear your grubbies! Only enrolled children may attend. Price includes parent and one child only. NO SIBLINGS. NO EXCEPTIONS.

ARTS & CRAFTS MACRAME ART CLASS
MOMMY AND ME ART AT THE GROTTOS
Macrame is the ancient art of tying decorative knots to make beautiful patterns and designs. Participants will learn several knotting techniques that can be incorporated in jewelry or home decor. Bring beads to share and trade. Learn to make macrame bracelets/ anklets, stone wrap necklaces, plant/wall hangers, belts, headbands, and other accessories!
Bring your little ones out to Alum Rock Park for a fun art class. Participants will learn about the Grottos at Alum Rock Park and create cool works of art to take home. Activities include finger painting, drawing, clay play and more. All materials will be provided. *PLEASE NOTE: This class will meet at Alum Rock Park.

DANCE TAP/BALLET
HIP HOP High-energy dance classes promote teamwork and improving coordination, stamina and overall fitness. As students sharpen their moves and refine footwork, choreography is introduced. EMMA PRUSCH FARM PARK
This class introduces children to the basics of both ballet and tap, combining creative movement, grace and balance. Students learn basic steps such as shuffles, rhythm exercises, and springs and elementary ballet including plies, tendus, and passes. Wear dance attire and bring tap and ballet shoes. EMMA PRUSCH FARM PARK REGISTRATION POLICIES
Our method of registration is designed to offer equal access to all. San José residents and Active Adult members are eligible for early registration. Customers can register for any class at any PRNS facility. Registration will be accepted in person, mail, fax, or online. Phone registrations will not be accepted. Registration forms will be processed in the order they are received. Registration will be accepted until the second class meeting if the course is still available. If the course requested is full, the participant will be registered for their second choice or placed on a wait list. Please be prompt when dropping off or picking up your child from his/her class. Children may not enter the class until the scheduled class or activity time. Children who arrive late to a class or activity should enter quietly and join in the activity. If a class is cancelled by the City, a make-up class will be added to the end of the session. In the event that a class cannot be rescheduled for a make-up by the City, a refund will be issued for the missed class. If the participant misses a class, no refunds will be issued. All wait list participants will be contacted only if there is an available spot in the class.
REFUND/TRANSFER POLICY All refund and transfer requests need to be made in writing. Request may be submitted in person to any PRNS facility or by email to SJRegistration@sanjoseca.gov. All refund and transfer requests must be received at least 14 calendar days prior to the start of the program/class. No refunds will be issued for cancellations received less than 14 calendar days prior to the start of the program/class. There will be a $10 refund processing fee for EACH activity and EACH child.If a class was paid with cash or check, a refund check will be mailed and may take 6-8 weeks for processing. If a class was paid with a credit card, the refund will be credited back to the credit card. It may not be possible to refund the class materials charged by the instructor. Refund and transfers may not be done online. Transfers must be requested for classes in the same season.
MINIMUM ENROLLMENT/CLASS CANCELLATION The City of San José, Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services reserves the right to the cancel any class or activity that does not meet a set minimum enrollment. Please register early to avoid class cancellations. We will make every effort to notify you at least five days prior to the scheduled course starting date. Please do not purchase supplies until five days prior to the start of the class. If a class is canceled, you will receive a full refund from the City, excluding class supplies.
SATISFACTION GUARANTEED We want to provide quality programs to all participants. If you are not satisfied with your program, please let us know. Contact staff at your local facility or email us at SJRegistration@sanjoseca.gov
PRE-SCHOOL POLICIES Please refer to the SJ Recreation Preschool Section.
PAYMENT PLANS POLICY Automatic payments are processed on the twentieth (20 th) day of each month. A full payment is required to hold your child’s spot for the following month. Additionally, if payment is not received by the 1st of the month, students will be withdrawn from the class. If your credit/debit card account changes, please notify the community center front desk staff. If you do not plan to have your child continue, we request that you notify the community center staff at least two (2) weeks prior to your child’s last day. This will allow us to stop your automatic payment on time.
LATE PICK UP POLICY The City of San José, Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services wants to ensure the safety and well-being of every participant. Participants must be picked up at the scheduled class end time. If, after five minutes, a participant is not picked up, we may charge $1.00 per participant for every minute thereafter. All fees must be paid prior to the participant returning to the class. We understand that emergencies may happen. If you have any emergency and are unable to pick up your child on time, contact the community center.
INCLUSION POLICY The City of San José, Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services (PRNS) encourages and supports the participation of individuals with all ability levels in programs and services. To facilitate opportunities for people with and without disabilities and to engage in leisure pursuits together, PRNS provides inclusion support services. These services include, but are not limited to interpreters for the deaf or hearing impaired, improved signage, activity modification, additional staff training, accessible equipment and facility features and support staff. To ensure the consideration of the requested accommodation, please notify the specific facility where the program is provided at least two weeks in advance.
