CITY OF SAN JOSE POLICIES REGISTRATION POLICIES • Our method of registration is designed to offer equal access to all. • • •

San José residents and Active Adult members are eligible for early registration. Customers can register for any class at any PRNS facility. Registration will be accepted in person, mail, fax, or online. Phone registrations will not be accepted. Registration forms will be processed in the order they are received. Registration will be accepted until the second class meeting if the course is still available. If the course requested is full, the participant will be registered for their second choice or placed on a wait list. Please be prompt when dropping off or picking up your child from his/her class. Children may not enter the class until the scheduled class or activity time. Children who arrive late to a class or activity should enter quietly and join in the activity. If a class is cancelled by the City, a make-up class will be added to the end of the session. In the event that a class cannot be rescheduled for a make-up by the City, a refund will be issued for the missed class. If the participant misses a class, no refunds will be issued. All wait list participants will be contacted only if there is an available spot in the class.
REFUND/TRANSFER POLICY • All refund and transfer requests need to be made in writing. • Request may be submitted in person to any PRNS facility or by email to SJRegistration@sanjoseca.gov.
• All refund and transfer requests must be received at least 14 calendar days prior to the start of the program/class. No refunds will be issued for cancellations received less than 14 calendar days prior to the start of the program/class.
• There will be a $10 refund processing fee for EACH activity and EACH
PREREQUISITES FOR CLASS • Please note all requirements, dates, and times for classes offered before enrolling. All participants must meet the age requirement on the first day of the class or activity.

PAYMENT PLANS POLICY • Automatic payments are processed on the twentieth (20th) day of each month. A full payment is required to hold your child’s spot for the following month. Additionally, if payment is not received by the 1st of the month, students will be withdrawn from the class. If your credit/debit card account changes, please notify the community center front desk staff. If you do not plan to have your child continue, we request that you notify the community center staff at least two (2) weeks prior to your child’s last day. This will allow us to stop your automatic payment on time.
LATE PICK UP POLICY • The City of San José, Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services wants to ensure the safety and well-being of every participant. Participants must be picked up at the scheduled class end time. If, after five minutes, a participant is not picked up, we may charge $1.00 per participant for every minute thereafter. All fees must be paid prior to the participant returning to the class. We understand that emergencies may happen. If you have any emergency and are unable to pick up your child on time, contact the community center.

This multi-sport program was developed to give 4 to 7 year-olds a positive first step into athletics. Dig up the ancient past and solve mysteries. Learn about archaeology and the techniques scientists use to excavate long lost cities! Discover ancient civilizations and the tools and artifacts they used in everyday life! Study bone fragments, pottery shards, amber deposits, and fossils, understand what they can tell us about history! SENIOR ADVISORY COUNCIL The Senior Advisory Council serves as an interface between the center’s staff and senior participants to advise city staff about activities, programs, and concerns affecting the senior community. Meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month at 1:00pm in Room 7.
SENIOR PEER ADVOCATES (SPA) SPA meets on Thursday mornings from 9:00am-11:00am. Senior Peer Advocates help you navigate to find valuable resources such as:
The Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP) provides free and objective information and counseling about Medicare. Volunteer counselors help senior 60+ understand their rights and health care options. Meets the third Thursday every month. An appointment is required.
SENIOR ADULT LEGAL ASSISTANCE (SALA) Occurs on the first and third Friday of each month from 1:00pm- 3:00pm Appointment is required.

BINGO Join the fun of Bingo every Tuesday at 1:15pm. You’ll get free snacks, door prizes, and special games. Payouts for regular games are $90.00 and $140.00 for Blackout. BINGO Pack is only $6 per pack (all 10 games). Bring your daubers, bring your friends, and have fun!

BALLROOM DANCE Thursday’s from 1:30pm - 3:30pm Join us for an afternoon of dancing with friends. Only $1 at the door! Ballroom dance takes place in the Multipurpose Room.
TAP DANCE Wednesday from 10:00am - 12:00pm Come and join the Dazzling Divas Dance Group and perform for Southside’s special events. Registration not required. Takes place in the Fitness Room.
HORSESHOE CLUB Tuesdays and Fridays from 9:30am - 11:30am Come and enjoy your morning while having fun playing a game of horseshoes. There is freshly made coffee and pastries everyday in the Horseshoe Club.
