Tennis at Murdock Park

Teddy Tennis Teddy Tennis is a fantastic educational program that inspires children to get active and learn to play tennis. It works by combining music (specially composed and played by Teddy Tennis), pictures (specially created by Teddy Tennis) and teddy bear stories (specially written by Teddy Tennis) into a totally interactive learning adventure that children love.

Orange Ball Tennis Players develop their tennis technique, athletic and court coverage skills in order to achieve success in rallying consistency and in point playing on a 60 foot court. A variety of fun and competitive games are used to develop a strong foundation of tennis fundamentals. Players increase their rallying, volley, serve and point playing skills while improving their athleticism and shot consistency. Players will focus on using the proper shot techniques and court coverage skills before moving on to a 78 foot court.

Red Ball Tennis This class provides a relaxed environment where fundamental tennis skills are taught along with a wide range of fun activities that help develop agility, balance, movement, sending, receiving and gross motor skills on a 36 foot court. In addition to expanding tennis skills, players improve their movement and rallying skills. We help each player to develop better tennis mechanics and more consistent shots. A variety of fun activities are used to improve player athleticism through agility, balance, coordination and movement development.

Green Ball Tennis This class emphasizes all aspects of the game and helps improve proper shot technique. Focus is placed on live ball drills that develop rallying and decision-making skills along with proper movement and recovery. In these Gentle Yoga classes we practice yoga poses at comfortable pace…. We do not flow through poses, we move into a pose, stay for a few breaths, then slowly move to another pose. The poses stretch the body and release tension, as well as allow us to practice strength, flexibility and balance. In between small combination of poses we practice getting down and getting up. Gentle yoga isn’t necessarily “beginner yoga” but it is yoga done a slower pace than most flow classes. Location: Cypress Community Center Instructor: Terre Pruitt

CYPRESS COMMUNITY CENTER EDUCATION & ENRICHMENT

Duplicate-Bridge Duplicate Bridge is called duplicate because the same bridge hand (i.e. arrangement of cards) is duplicated at other tables, in order to allow a fair comparison of playing skill and reduce "luck of the cards." This way, every hand, whether good or bad, is played in competition with others playing the I dentical cards, and the element of skill is heightened while that of chance is reduced.
