WOMEN’S RETREAT SAVE THE DATE

A call for all chili enthusiasts, chefs and consumers. We are hosting another chili contest on November 25. We need seven volunteers to make a pot of chili to serve 20 people. We need both chefs and eaters to register online sjvan.org/events or contact james@sjvan.org.

Mark your calendars for a women’s retreat in the new year from February 1-3. We will be heading down to Cedar Springs Retreat Centre, just over the border from Abbotsford.

The competition will take place in the fellowship hall after the 11:00 am service. Come with an appetite! MISSIONS DESSERT EVENING // TONIGHT Tonight after the Evening Service, one of our missionaries will be sharing about what God is doing among the least reached around the world. He will share about his summer short-term trips overseas and give an update about work among refugees in Vancouver. Join us downstairs in the Fellowship Hall. SENIORS TEA // NOV 20 Join us on November 20 at 1:30 pm in the church chapel for a Q & A with Bruce Milne about his book “Know the Truth.” We’ll learn about how it came into publication, its global impact, and its importance for every day Christian discipleship in the gospel of the Kingdom of God. Bruce Milne is the former pastor of First Baptist Church, Vancouver. Please RSVP to Margaret Wilson, margaret@sjvan.org or 778-838-7400. KEEPING COMPANY WITH GOD // NOV 26 The next few weeks are all about food, work parties, family gatherings, and endless platters of Christmas baking and candies. And yet, these treats don’t satisfy our deep longings. Are you desiring to meet Jesus, the Bread of Life? Come to Keeping Company with God: rest, reflection and restoration at the end of the day. We will meet on Monday, November 26 at 7:30 pm in the chapel. This worship service happens on the last Monday of each month, providing restful renewal. It includes music, a short reflection on a Bible passage, prayers from across the centuries and around the world, and if you so desire, an opportunity to be prayed with by a member of our prayer team. If you have questions, please contact Manya Egerton megerton@telus.net.

Registration will open in early December. ARE YOU INTERESTED IN A TEAM TRIP TO MALAWI? St. John’s is accepting applications to join a shortterm mission team trip to Malawi for the summer of 2019. Contact Krista Friebel at krista@ sjvan.org for an application form. Application deadline is December 2.
