ONLY 3 MORE SLEEPS After three years of waiting, this Wednesday, the Satar’s, our sponsored family from Afghanistan (via India), will be arriving in Vancouver. The Refugee committee has been busy these last few weeks securing and furnishing an apartment, several of the committee will be at the airport to welcome them to Canada. As most of you are aware, St. John’s is responsible for providing financial support for their first year in Canada. We expect the total cost of support will be close to $45,000. So far this year we have received $4,000 in donations to the Refugee Fund. As you can see there is a large gap between what we have received and what we will need. We ask that you prayerfully consider a special offering to St. John’s Refugee Fund. We are also planning a special welcome celebration for the family at the church on Saturday, May 11. More details to come on this event.

Calendar PURSUING OUR THREE PRIORITIES: A STAFFING UPDATE At our Annual General Meeting in March David Short spoke about organizing our vision for the future around three priorities (pillars): Gospel Proclamation, Gospel Formation, and Gospel Application. As David explained, pursuing these priorities will involve staffing changes and additions over the coming year. We are happy to announce that Rev. Jeremy Graham will be moving from his position as Director of Children’s and Family Ministries to a dual position overseeing both the Gospel Application Pillar and Family Ministries. Jeremy will be responsible for developing and implementing programs and events that equip our members to engage the culture faithfully and effectively. We are also pleased to announce that Jessica Fehr, will move from her role as the Children’s Minister Coordinator to become the new Director of Children’s Ministries. Jessica is a certified teacher with a Master of Arts in Theological Studies from Regent. She has worked in children’s ministries at St. John’s for the last three years. TAD AND NICOLE INBODEN ARE SAYING GOODBYE TO ST. JOHN’S We are sad to announce that Tad and Nicole will be leaving St. John’s as of June 30. Tad and Nicole are resigning as the Directors of Student Ministries. They will be moving to Denver, Colorado, where Nicole’s sister and Audrey’s cousins live. Tad has accepted a churchplanting residency at a church in Denver. We are grateful to God for their fruitful ministry, and love for our youth. While we are excited for what lies ahead for them, we will miss them very much. CONDOLENCE On April 16 Dr. Ed Gentis passed away. Ed and wife Lotte were members of St. John’s for many years.
