What’s up at St. John’s ARE YOU NEWISH?

LEARNERS’ EXCHANGE

We are running the Newcomer Sessions for anyone who considers themselves new to our church. We’ll cover a different topic each week and talk about what it means to be part of St. John’s. Each course will have a small cohort, providing participants with the opportunity to know one another over the four weeks.

Every Sunday in the Café Room at 9:00 am, Learners’ Exchange offers stimulating speakers and engaging discussions.

The course will run from November 3 to 24 after the 11:00 am service. We’ll meet together for an hour and a half with lunch and childcare provided. We have a limited number of spaces, so please register online if you’d like to attend. If this session doesn’t work there will be another one early next year. We look forward to getting to know you! Christian history is bloody. From the early church martyrs through the turmoil of the Reformation and even to the present day, Christians have, and are, suffering for their faith. Some pay the ultimate price. So how does the gospel survive from one generation to the next? Unlike history (man’s story), the Gospel is God’s story and grows by his power, and according to his plan. Through faithful men and women, he ensures that the truth of his saving grace continues to be heard. As to the means, Paul was very clear in his letter to Timothy that the process of entrusting the gospel from one generation to the next is absolutely imperative. The Artizo Institute was founded on this principle of entrusting. Artizo identifies, encourages, and equips men and women who have gifts for Christian leadership. Over 100 Artizo apprentices have graduated from the program and most are in fulltime ministry. And for over 20 years, St. John’s has been blessed by having Artizo apprentices working among us. On October 28, we will be having a casual, social and inspirational evening focused on the work of Artizo. If you’re not familiar with Artizo, this is your opportunity to find out first hand how God’s word is faithfully passed from one generation to the next, and how preachers become preachers of the gospel! You will be able to catch up with current and past Artizo apprentices, and meet our incoming first-year apprentices personally – and learn how you can pray for them and support them. Artizo will also be announcing an exciting new program aimed at supporting our apprentices as they move into active ministry and begin the God-given work of proclaiming and entrusting the gospel to others. We really hope to see you there.
