Welcome to the 61st Annual Anacortes Arts Festival!

We hope that you are able to spend a few hours or a few days celebrating life and art with us. With our ever-changing and sometimes chaotic lives, the Anacortes Arts Festival is the perfect opportunity to pause and be grateful for what is beautiful with the world.

The Anacortes art community is full of energy and potential and we can’t wait to share that with you. With great community support, our art organizations are working together to create a new Community Art and Cultural Center in our downtown corridor. Watch our website for updates and ways you can be involved.

During Festival weekend, you can see our collaborative partners in action. Fidalgo DanceWorks dancers will showcase their amazing talent at the Main Stage on Friday. The Anacortes Music Project is bringing local musicians to the Port Stage all day on Saturday. And, watch for surprise performances from ACT Theatre actors throughout the weekend. We are also proud to continue our partnership with the Manieri Foundation at the Jazz Stage and the City of Anacortes in the Youth Area.

Of course, you will ind all of your festival favorites again this year: the 250 booth artists, Arts at the Port, beer gardens, youth area, food vendors and entertainers. Make sure you also plan enough time to visit our Working Studios, where you will see artists and talented craftsmen in action. There is blacksmithing, basket weaving, woodworking, stone carving, marbling, chalk painting and chainsaw art for you to enjoy.

After visiting Arts at the Port, you will notice that we’ve brought the Waterfront Pub and the Port Stage back this year. Sitting on the dock enjoying a cold beverage and some great music is a perfect way to spend part of your day. When you get hungry, you will ind a great meal at one of our fabulous local restaurants or at the number of food vendors throughout the festival.

Whether it’s inding the perfect art piece, watching a talented artist in action, enjoying a delicious lunch, toe tapping to happy music or catching up with old friends, we know that spending time at the Anacortes Arts Festival will bring a smile to your face and a bit of hope to your heart.

Enjoy our creative community.

General Festival Information

We have a policy of NO DOGS at the Festival. Please be kind to your pet and respectful of our artists and other festival goers by leaving your furry friends at home.

The Festival Information Booth is located at 5th Street. Friendly volunteers are available to answer questions about the Festival and our community - or help in emergencies. It is also the place to purchase Festival t-shirts and other merchandise and to report lost items or children.

NEW Pirate Run – the Festival Kicks-off

July 30

Our 17th annual run has turned into a Pirate Run on Saturday, July 30th. It is a 5k-ish and 10k-ish fun run, and 1mile kids run. While costumes are not required, they are encouraged and prizes will be awarded for the best costumes.

The run starts at Rotary Park at Cap Sante Marina and routes along the Tommy Thompson Trail, ending at the Port Dock. After the run, enjoy some music and adult pirate beverages at our Waterfront Pub and visit our Arts at the Port Fine Art Show.

The Pirate Run is a partnership between Anacortes Parks and Recreation and the Festival, supporting public art projects. Register at AnacortesArtsFestival.com

Volunteers

It takes over 250 highly dedicated volunteers to help make our Festival weekend run smoothly. We can’t thank them enough! We have people working as art docents at the ine art show, manning the information booth, delivering food to our booth vendors, booth sitting when artists need a break, working in the beer and wine gardens … plus so much more! Volunteers are the heart of our organization and we are fortunate to have so many community members excited to give of their time to welcome visitors and support our efforts.

The Festival’s Mission

The Festival is the largest supporter of the arts in Skagit County. We give back to the community through grants, collaborative projects, and arts education support for students. This year we are funding an Anacortes elementary art specialist in our schools, overseeing a public mural project, and leading a collaboration with other community arts organizations in the realization of a community art center (see Director’s welcome).

Please remember that as you support the Festival with your purchases you are also helping us support the arts, artists and youth education in our community.

We are delighted that Eileen Sorg from Kingston, WA is our 2022 poster artist. Eileen, aka Two Dog Studio, has been a Festival booth artisan for over a decade. She is a painter and illustrator whose work is magical and narrative. Her primary medium is colored pencil, but she is also a printmaker and painter. The poster image is titled “The Trouble with Butterlies”. We think it perfectly captures the fun and playful side of the Festival.

Posters and t-shirts are available at the Festival Information Booth on 5th Street.

Community Collaborations

A shout out to the community organizations who partner throughout the Festival to make the experience more rich and complete.

Kathy Ross uses world’s materials and the world’s innuendos to create fanciful tin and mixed media sculpture. The result is lustrous pieces that call the viewer to study all the narrative detail that she incorporates. Ross uses a hot soldering process that comes from the stained glass world and armature materials from the building industry. The tin as the basis of the work contributes cultural iconography.
