Retail and commercial facilities trade fair and exhibition centers

Experience in the industry For many years, we have been collaborating with the biggest global concerns investing in Poland. A profound knowledge of the construction industry and state-of-the-art technology, high quality of works performed as well as devotion shown at each stage of the construction process contribute to our cooperation with leading commercial chains. We construct both small retail buildings and large wholesale facilities. We have succeeded in building modern shopping and commercial centers as well as trade fair and exhibition centers in the largest Polish cities. We also undertake works at existing facilities, involving the adaptation of space for new requirements. It is frequently a challenge to execute construction works at active facilities, whilst at the same time, providing the stores uninterrupted service for their customers. Our experience in the execution of contracts requiring maintenance of continuity of a facility operation allows us to conduct works efficiently and safely. Upon clients’ requests, we also create designs for future facilities. A combination of design works and the construction of facilities under a single contract requires considerable technical knowledge and a high degree of responsibility. We have our own design office, which ensures the proper execution of the investment in the Design & Build (D&B) formula. Modern Trade Fair and Exhibition Center in Bydgoszcz, for which we were the designer and the general contractor, is an example of such a project.

For many years, our policy has been based on environment-friendly operations. Due to our operations, in 2009, the first environment certificates for buildings in the LEED system (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) were awarded in Poland. Lidl Distribution Center in Bydgoszcz is our first warehouse project to undergo the LEED multi-criteria building assessment. During our long-term presence in this sector, as a general contractor, we have executed projects for, among others: Tesco, Lidl, Makro Cash&Carry, Leroy Merlin, Media Markt, and Praktiker. The aforementioned concerns entrusted us with the construction of their facilities several times, which shows their confidence in Skanska. Our vast portfolio also includes Galardia Shopping Center in Starachowice, Family Point Shopping Center in Głogów, Hossa Shopping Mall in Kielce and the John Deere showroom for farming equipment in Tarnów Podgórny. Retail and commercial centers constructed by us are landmarks in many Polish cities. Złote Tarasy Shopping Center in Warsaw with a glass roof having a surface of 10,000 sqm is our flagship project.

Lidl retail and commercial pavilions Our cooperation with Lidl Polska Sp. z o.o. dates back to 2003. Within its framework, we build standard retail and commercial pavilions. Facilities built by us are located throughout the entire country, among others, in Nowy Targ (2015), Wodzisław Śląski (2015), Poznań (2015), Sosnowiec (2014), Głogów (2014), Łęczna (2014), Mysłowice (2013), Sanok (2012), Opole (2012), Warsaw (2012), Wrocław (2012), Katowice (2012) and Rybnik (2011). In previous years, we also built Lidl retail pavilions in Przemyśl, Kielce, Starachowice and Ostrowiec. Our portfolio also features the construction of Lidl distribution and logistics centers. The newest one (2015) is located in Bydgoszcz. The facility has been awarded with a LEED certificate at gold level (LEED Gold).

For building Lidl facilities, we often apply elements prepared by Skanska Steel Structure Manufacturing Plant in Kielce.

Trade Fair and Exhibition Center in Bydgoszcz Thanks to the successfully completed construction, the city gained a new location to organize trade fairs, exhibitions and conferences at the highest level. The surface of the exposition hall covers almost 11,000 sqm. The area can be divided into three smaller halls by means of two semi-automatic mobile walls, 13 m high, which, due to their sound insulation, allow holding three independent events. The conference facilities have a capacity for up to 720 people. Construction of the Center consumed almost 600 tons of constructional steel, about 200 tons of reinforcing steel, 6,000 m3 of concrete and 95,000 pieces of silicate blocks. 2015, Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship Client: Bydgoszcz Industry and Technology Park Usable area: 16,000 sqm Cubic capacity: 200,101 m3 Net value: PLN 34,620,828 Photo credit: Archives of BCTW

We were both the designer and the general contractor of the project.

Galardia Shopping Center in Starachowice In Starachowice, with over 60,000 inhabitants, Skanska constructed a new shopping center at 14 Kardynała Wyszyńskiego St. The area covered hitherto by meadows and wastelands was changed by the Company into a fully developed commercial space. Galardia Shopping Center is the biggest facility of this type within 50 kilometers of the town. The commercial and entertainment space exceeds 18,000 sqm, out of which 6,200 sqm are occupied by a Tesco “Extra” hypermarket and 1,330 sqm - by a Helios multiplex cinema. Due to the efficient execution of the project, the inhabitants of Starachowice as well as nearby towns and villages may take advantage of 38 stores, 6 retail and commercial points and a Helios cinema, the first multiplex cinema in the region. Construction of the roof structure consumed almost 660 tons of steel and the pylon itself with its subconstruction - almost 22 tons of steel.

2014, Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship Client: Galardia Sp. z o.o. Usable area: 23,326 sqm Cubic capacity: over 173,928 m3

Did you know that... Our offer includes services in the scope of design, production and the assembly of steel structures. We execute orders that meet the needs of the largest concerns in the world. We process from 600 to 800 tons of structures monthly. We hold the Certificate of Steel Structure Manufacturer issued by the Polish Chamber of Steelworks. We have our own design office which ensures the proper execution of investment in the Design & Build (D&B) formula. We work with state-of-the-art construction technologies, and we use integrated BIM processes (smart design information management). For many years, our policy has been based on environment-friendly operations. We have implemented an integrated management system for compliance with the EN-ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 standards. This is confirmation of our quality and compliance with standards in the field of health and safety at work in addition to environment protection.

Due to our operations, in 2009, the first environment certificates for buildings in the LEED system (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) were awarded in Poland. We have considerable experience in the certification of projects. We have references that allow us to participate in tenders for certificated projects. We are one of the signatories of the Cooperation for Safety in Construction - an initiative aimed at eliminating fatal accidents at construction sites. This Cooperation has been established by the largest general contractors in Poland. We consider issues of health and safety at work as important as keeping deadlines and budgets. We work in observance of safety at work standards that are binding for all Skanska constructions throughout the world. Human health and safety is the top priority for us.

Tesco retail and commercial facilities For many years, we have successfully executed projects for Tesco the biggest British chain of supermarkets. We undertake both the execution of new buildings from scratch and the modernization of existing facilities. Thanks to us, adapted and modernized stores owned by Tesco Polska Sp. z o.o. get modern facilities, become more functional, and customers of this chain can enjoy new commercial space. The executed facilities are located, among others, in Cracow (2014), Starachowice (2014), Łódź (2012), Kielce (2012) and Rzeszów (2011). In previous years, we also executed retail pavilions in Bochnia, Bielsko-Biała, Cracow, Rzeszów, Częstochowa, Warsaw and Gdynia. Our portfolio also includes the adaptation of Tesco warehouse areas in Bielsko-Biała and in Łódź.

Our experience in the execution of contracts at active facilities allows us to conduct works efficiently and safely, maintaining the continuity of Tesco service for its customers.

Family Point Shopping Center in Głogów The facility constructed by us is located in the largest commercial estate in this town. We executed the construction and assembly works, installation and electric works, as well as road and finishing “turnkey” works. Due to the executed works, the commercial space in this part of the town increased by almost 4,600 sqm. Due to its specific retail character, the building is deprived of an internal shopping mall. Its functions were taken over by an external roofed passage winding along the façade. Customers may enter each retail outlet directly from the parking lot with 172 parking spaces, including 9 spaces for people with disabilities.

Ellipsis-shaped multi-layer roofing over the entrance zone was an interesting solution that we were able to execute in this project.

Leroy Merlin retail and commercial facilities Projects that we execute for Leroy Merlin Inwestycje Sp. z o.o. usually involve the construction of new retail pavilions from scratch. Our vast portfolio also includes two executions in which the works performed were not so extensive, i.e. they covered only the finishing and mounting of systems in the existing Leroy Merlin centers. So far, we have executed projects for Leroy Merlin in cities including: Wrocław (2015), Kalisz (2014), Płock (2014), Zielona Góra (2011), Puławy (2011). In previous years, we also executed retail pavilions in Łódź, Szczecin, Swarzędz, Toruń, Warsaw (GIGAmarket), Rumia, Zgorzelec, Komorniki, Łódź, Kalisz and Swadzim.

Free stations for charging electrically-powered vehicles are a novelty in Leroy Merlin stores - we executed them in some of the recently completed facilities.

Skanska in Poland We are one of the world’s leading project development and construction companies. Our history dates back to 1887. We operate in Europe and America. In Poland, we are the market leader. As a general contractor, we construct enclosed structures, roads, bridges, rail and tram lines as well as hydro-engineering facilities. By the same token, we are equally committed when it comes to smaller investments such as country and municipal roads, bicycle paths, schools and kindergartens. The most significant of our undertakings include: the north section of the A1 highway, Świnna Poręba water reservoir, Złote Tarasy shopping center in Warsaw, Poznań Western Bypass, a bridge on the Odra River in Brzeg Dolny, an airport in Jasionka near Rzeszów, football stadiums in Kielce and Kołobrzeg, the W-Z route in Gdańsk, university facilities in Łódź, Poznań, Zielona Góra, Wrocław and Rzeszów, as well as numerous sporting facilities throughout the country.
