During these challenging times, it is more important than ever we work together as community bankers to accomplish our goals. By your attendance here today, you are acknowledging the importance of such a collective effort. As you know, we all need to be fully engaged with a concerted focus toward influencing the outcome of current initiatives at the state level, as well as the national level. Together, as a group, we can continue to work to strengthen our industry. Today you will hear from experts regarding the economy, and regulatory and legislative issues at the national and local levels. A special thanks to the presenters today for sharing their views and comments with us. We know you and your colleagues will take away beneficial information to share with the remainder of your staff, as well as others in your communities.

Thank you for being here today and for your continued support of the CBA of Georgia, the only Association which exclusively represents community banking in our state. We wish you the very best in the coming months and hope you will continue to contact us for any needs you may have.

Speakers Mark Stevens is Market President, Bibb County, State Bank & Trust Company, Macon, Georgia. Mr. Stevens began his community banking career in 1974 and spent his entire career in the Macon area. Mark is very active in the Macon community and serves on the board of the Cherry Blossom Festival and the Museum of Aviation Foundation. Mark earned his B.A. at Mercer University. He is the 2011-2012 Chairman of the Board of Directors of the CBA of Georgia. Marlon Cook is the Regional Manager for the FDIC’s Division of Insurance and Research in the Atlanta Regional Office. Prior to his current assignment, Marlon was an Assistant Regional Director for the Division of Supervision and Consumer Protection in Atlanta, with responsibility for risk management matters in the state of Georgia. Marlon joined the FDIC in 1985 and served as a commissioned examiner in the northeast and southwestern U.S. from 1989 until 1996. In April 1999, he was appointed Special Assistant to the Director of the Division of Supervision and Consumer Protection. Mark Kanaly is a Partner with Alston + Bird LLP. He concentrates his practice on the transactional and regulatory issues confronted by companies in the financial services and products arena. Mark’s clients include banks, thrifts, specialty finance companies, hedge funds, broker-dealers and investment advisers. He is a member of the Atlanta Bar Association and the State Bar of Georgia. Mark received a J.D. in 1996 from the University of Oklahoma where he was elected to the Order of the Coif and received five American Jurisprudence Awards. Mark graduated cum laude from the Wharton Business School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1993 with a B.S.E. in Finance. Steve Bridges joined the CBA of Georgia as President and Chief Executive Officer in March 2002; and, in June of 2009 was named Executive Director of Legislative and Regulatory Affairs. Previously, Steve had a 30-year career with the Georgia Department of Banking & Finance, where he served as Commissioner from 1997 to 2002. Steve received his undergraduate degree from the State University of West Georgia, Carrollton, and is a graduate of the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) and various committees and task forces of ICBA.
