Auburn University’s Detector Dog Program Draws the Attention of U.S. Senator Jeff Sessions

AUBURN, Ala. –The College of Veterinary Medicine’s Canine Detection Research Institute will exhibit a new “Vapor Wake” detection technology to U.S. Senator Jeff Sessions on Friday. Sessions will be shown the science-based training program that the CDRI uses to prepare canines to detect explosives and illegal weapons. The Vapor Wake Detection technology is a non-disruptive, non-invasive detection technology created by the CRDI. The dog detects the scent of explosives or illegal weapons from the plumes of air coming from a person, up to 15 minutes afterward. The dogs are selected as puppies for the Vapor Wake Detection program. The dogs are specifically chosen from the top sporting and tracking breed lines.
