• Start exploring. Think through your interests and begin to explore colleges that align with them. If a close-knit, residential environment and liberal arts curriculum feel right, put Skidmore on your list.
• Schedule an online interview. Interviews are available May 1 through December 1 in the year you are applying. For more information, https://skidmo.re/interviewvisit:
• Plan to visit us in person or online. If you haven’t already, consider coming to campus for our annual Summer Open House, typically held in August.

• Get to know us better. Sign up for a virtual open house or information session, follow us on social media, and keep tabs on our website and news.

• Start your application. Our application opens August 1. If you’re planning to apply Early Decision I (ED1), it’s a good time to familiarize yourself with the requirements and prepare to apply. Additional resources can be found on our website early-decisionskidmore.edu/admissions/apply/at:
• May 1 – Candidates Reply Date Deadline for Regular Decision accepts to enroll.

*Early Action is similar to Early Decision, but does not require enrollment upon notification of acceptance.

You will apply online through the Common Application or Coalition Application and choose from one of three plans –Early Decision I, Early Decision II, or Regular Decision.
Skidmore’s Early Decision (ED) plans are designed for those students who want an early start, an early decision, and know they want to attend Skidmore. As an ED candidate, you agree to enroll at Skidmore if admitted.
Historically, 50% of our first-year class enrolls via Early Decision. Skidmore does not offer Early Action*.

- At least four works must be drawings from direct observation.
- Portfolios should reflect the abilities and experience of the applicants.
Skidmore is test-optional for all applicants seeking fall 2023 admission. Students may still choose to submit either the SAT or ACT if they feel their standardized testing results support their academic record. All applicants will be given equal consideration in our holistic evaluation approach, whether or not they submit testing.

Skidmore’s 2022-2023 student costs
To apply for financial aid, complete the following steps.

Financial Aid
Tuition/fees: $62,398; room: $9,834 (dorm double); meals: $6,798; and books/supplies/personal expenses and travel: $2,860 (est.).
These are not small amounts, but Skidmore annually gives nearly $70 million in financial aid, with 99% awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need. More than half of our students receive need-based grants.

Filene Music Scholarships are awarded to four to six students each year through a performance competition coordinated by Skidmore’s Department of TheMusic.Filene

Merit Skidmoreaidoffers
two selective, limited merit awards of $80,000 ($20,000 per year).
Competition is open to high school seniors who select the Filene Scholarship option on their application and register for the Competition by uploading audio or video recordings at slideroom.com by January 15, 2023.
Porter/Wachenheim Scholarships in Science and Mathematics are awarded to 12-15 students on the basis of superior accomplishment in science and/or mathematics. Candidates are selected by a faculty committee on the strength of their admissions applications (coursework in science and math, standardized test scores, teacher recommendations, and related pursuits beyond the classroom). Applicants must select the Porter/Wachenheim Scholarship option on their application and respond to an essay question.
