HONORS CONVOCATION

ACADEMIC AWARDS AND PRIZES

Wednesday, May third, Two Thousand Twenty-three

Seven in the evening

CONGRATULATIONS

You have been chosen by your faculty as the recipient of one or more academic prizes.

Honors Convocation – the gathering of our community to celebrate the academic achievements of our most talented and creative students – stands as one of the great traditions at Skidmore College, and is one of my favorite moments in the academic year. Faculty deliberate in their departments and programs and award the prizes to the students who best exemplify honor and excellence in their disciplines – pillars of our academic institution. Then we convene as a community of faculty, students, staff, family, friends, alumni, and donors, in an evening that is a highlight at the end of the spring semester.

It gives me great pleasure to welcome everyone to this year’s Honors Convocation, and in the Helen Filene Ladd Concert Hall in the Arthur Zankel Music Center. After opening remarks in this glorious auditorium by President Conner that will set the tone for the festivities, faculty honored by their own peers as the Ciancio (teaching), Moseley (scholarship), and Roth (service) winners will read the names of the students together with the citations authored by the departments and programs. Allow me to add my voice to the chorus that will celebrate the students whom we honor and esteem this year for their excellence.
