Chart preparation (1/3) A Bubble chart is an extension of a scatter plot chart, where in addition to a scatter plot (2 dimensions represented by the x axis and y axis), the size of the bubble represents the 3 rd variable. In this example, we can show revenue growth on x-axis, EBITDA margin on y-axis and Size of bubble will represent the 2019 revenues (size) for the company.

In Excel, Click on data, Then Go to insert, Select Chart, then select XY (Scatter) under All charts, then Select 3D bubble chart and Click OK.

Modify and format data labels • Click on data labels, Right click, Select – Format data labels, Select value from cells, Enter the name range (For Company A to J). • Deselect Y Value (as we do not need EBITDA margins as data labels). • Select Label Position to Center and Change the color of labels, if required.
