Your training regimes should be designed keeping in mind the purpose and nature of your learners. For example, C-level employees who are trying to get versed with leadership fundamentals will have a very different set of needs and goals than employees being trained in compliance such as for avoiding workplace incidents. Explore your intended audience beforehand and then set up training methods to make them sympathetic to the learners.

To give the learners a real-world experience and build on their decision making skills, give the cart's reins to them and allow them to steer the virtual scheme on their own. Start with relatively easy situations where you know the trainee will find a way out. Build their confidence in the beginning and then throw them off balance by adding to the situation, making it denser to get out of.

Simulating situations that exist in real life into training programs only works well if they have high external validity and contain solutions or elements that can be applied in-thefield. Your audience will pay more attention and show genuine interest to your content if they see in it the ideas and lessons that they could apply to the real world. Show them the values that you bring to them with your program.

The best kind of simulated learning is always mixed with real factors from the skill that your trainee is trying to learn. For instance, if you are trying to educate your trainees on the specifics of splinting, compression wrapping or elevation of injury in a Wilderness First Aid course, make a finger splint and roll of bandages necessary equipments for them in the introduction to the regimen. Your learners will gain valued experience in handling the tools of the craft.

When faced with clever situations on the field, the employees not only have to look at the problem in front of them but also the side implications like worsening stakes or un-feasible elements to possible solutions that come with it. To make your simulated training wholesome and engage your learners fully, creating an intelligible and well-founded problem is important which contains real stakes like deadlines, limited resources and technological complications that are well realized in mimicking the real world.

Include relevant narratives from your own experience and interactions in the field to make the learning atmosphere come full circle. Attaching videos, images, recorded snippets of customer-dealer interactions and shared emails will help your learners connect to the narrative emotionally, appeal to them in a relatable and meaningful way and simplify complex reasonings.
